Diabetes mellitus and its influence on the incidence and process of diabetic retinopathy
CONCLUSION: The percentage of people with diabetic retinopathy increases with the duration of diabetes, as well as the increased frequency of pathological late complication of diabetes, including deterioration of visual acuity, the development of aneurysms, hard exudates, macular oedema, and gradual loss of vision, which can result in practical blindness. Early diagnosis of the disease and introduction of appropriate treatment would alleviate the symptoms of the disease in more than half of the patients, so more frequent preventive check-ups with an ophthalmologist should be performed in diabetic patients to avoid detectio...

Impact of pollen season and viral disease COVID-19 on respiratory function of the adult population in Eastern Slovakia: analysis of spirometric data and results of a questionnaire survey
CONCLUSION: Our research shows that the PEF parameter is most affected by the pollen and non-pollen season in asthmatic patients. Significant differences in PEF parameter were observed between genders, where we observed highly significant statistical significance of PEF parameter in pollen and non-pollen season in females.PMID:38193466 | DOI:10.1080/02770903.2024.2303762 (Source: Journal of Asthma)

The present study is designed to evaluate the impact of access to Purrble among LGBTQ+ youth who have self-harmful thoughts, when compared with waitlist controls. Methods and analysis The study is a single-blind, randomised control trial comparing access to the Purrble robot with waitlist control. A total of 168 LGBTQ...

The influence of prehabilitation in patients with liver cirrhosis before liver transplantation: a randomized clinical trial
CONCLUSIONS: Despite the great effort to maintain adherence, it was not possible to draw a conclusion about the effectiveness of prehabilitation in patients before liver transplantation compared to standard of care because the main problem in Slovak patients with liver cirrhosis is low adherence. More studies are needed to identify the barriers that lead to low adherence in patients with liver cirrhosis.CLINICAL REHABILITATION IMPACT: A promising result was found due to improvement of the Liver Frailty Index and the Child-Pugh Score after one month in the prehabilitation group.PMID:38059578 | DOI:10.23736/S1973-9087.23.081...
