A decent AA but low RC...
I am currently a rising-senior and recently took DAT and below are my stat: AA-24, PAT-21, TS-26, GC-23, Bio-26, OC-30, RC-16, QR-23. I know it sounds like a lame excuse, but I was so nervous that I couldn't sleep at all before the day of the exam. A lack of sleep must have been affected my performance on RC since I couldn't read as fast as usual. My GPA is 3.88 and sGPA is 3.87. Should I retake DAT this winter? Below are the list of schools I'm thinking of applying to next year (I'm taking... A decent AA but low RC... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Crazy wakeup in morbidly obese patient
Wanted to get anybody's thoughts on how they would've handled it. Last week, there was a 600 lb patient undergo ECT. We were thinking of either doing it under LMA or ETT, but she was mallampati I and surprisingly easy to mask ventilate with oral airway) once she went to sleep. We used methohexital, ketamine, sux (while ramped and reversed T). Psych performed ECT and patient desatted to 70s (which was expected). I placed oral airway back in and ventilate back up to 95% and everything was... Crazy wakeup in morbidly obese patient (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Sleep Medicine as a Primary Specialty?
Hello everybody! So, I am a third-year Neurology Resident currently. We get a good amount if exposure to Sleep Medicine, however basically only as an "add-on" to a Neurology practice. Sleep really interests me, but whenever I mention that I may want to pursue it as a primary specialty, my attendings shoot it down saying it's not viable as a solo practice due to decreasing reimbursement for sleep studies, etc. In truth, both the specialty itself as well as the lifestyle I see really appeals... Surviving early pregnancy
Hi! I was wondering if anyone had tips for surviving early pregnancy as a physician. I feel awful and just want to curl in a ball and sleep. I'm an attending and getting coverage is a challenge. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Official Sleep Medicine Fellowship 2020-2021 Thread
Hi! It seems like most of this forum is pretty quiet as of late. I'm hoping there are at least some people out there who are still browsing this rather "sleepy" forum. Anyone applying this year? Any helpful tips/recommendations about programs would be awesome. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

EMG fellowships programs
HI there, anyone can suggest the top fellowships with mostly EMG (no EEG, no pain, no sleep)? Is there a place training mostly in EMG? Goal to be independent in 1 year (for private practice). (Source: Student Doctor Network)

MCAT Retake
Hello! I recently took the MCAT and got my score back: 513 (129/126/127/131) I plan on retaking the MCAT in the beginning of September as that is the earliest I can. I am retaking it because my score is way lower than my average on FL exams (I was averaging around 519 last two weeks), especially in CARS where I got 130-131 on the last 3 practice exams. I know my test day was a fluke because I was sick that week and didn’t sleep the night before my exam (although who knows? Maybe all the... MCAT Retake (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Seeking Advice on How To Cope with Dropping Pre-Med
I'm still waiting on my biology quiz scores to make a final decision, but I am taking summer biology for the sole reason of being premed. However, I have realized that I am likely not doing very well in the class (or at least not as well as I would like) and that it is taking a serious toll on my mental health and sleep schedule (possibly because I am not studying very efficiently or consistently, or because I am just **** at biology). Heck, I took biology honors at the high school level in... Seeking Advice on How To Cope with Dropping Pre-Med (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Referring for sleep studies
Looking for a primary care perspective. What is your approach to sleep study referral and why? I've seen some docs look for any and every excuse to order one (regardless of STOPBANG/ESS), and I've seen others look for every excuse not to. I've seen some patients fishing for a diagnosis of sleep apnea (for military disability rating), and others hope they don't have it because they can't imagine having to sleep with a CPAP. Coping with sleep deprivation for M3 year/residency/beyond
My clerkship year is starting this fall, and I'm hoping to solicit advice on how to best deal with the inevitable lack of sleep that I'll have to face. For med students who have gone through clerkship year, current residents, and attendings, what tips do you have for those of us to perform well and cope with lack of sleep next year? Anyone else suffer from insomnia?
I realize that the nature of our field and being on call and woken up sporadically and randomly throughout the night (negatively) affects sleep cycles so even when I'm in the comfort of my own bed at home I don't sleep well; and then it just becomes a really vicious circle. I've tried all the "usual" remedies (melatonin, cherry juice, no screentime before bed, darkened room, meditation, etc.) and don't want to resort to meds at all. Any suggestions?
