If retake score is same does it tank my application
My first score was 511 (128/129/125/129) and I would like to retake as 1. the score is skewed 2. I only got 2 hrs of sleep and was severely jetlagged. 3. My practice tests are in the 516 range (1 month away). However, I am just paranoid that if I end up getting the same/slightly similar score...anything around 511-513, that it's going to be a death sentence, pretty much? Given I have a high CARS score, I may not be able to replicate it, as that's the one that's most variable and if I end... Would You Rather?
Would you rather be operated on by a surgeon who is sleep deprived (awake for 22 hours straight) or by a surgeon who is legally drunk (≈ 0.08 BAC)? This question came into my mind after reading Why We Sleep by Dr. Matthew Walker. It’s a very interesting read for anyone remotely interested in sleep. Excerpt from the book: "The next time you see a doctor in a hospital, keep in mind the study we have previously discussed, showing that after twenty-two hours without sleep, human... Toddler Sedation on an Airplane
If any of you have flown with a 12-24 months old toddler, you will know that that can be the most difficult form of flying. While babies will sleep and be soothed by warm milk, and 2 year olds can be entertained by screens and movies, the group in between those ages, 12-24 month old toddlers, are a real challenge. They are curious and mobile with short attention spans. Screen time has no hold over them. They will push and kick their way out of baby carriers and cry and scream if restrained... Has this happened to you?
During final exam periods, have you felt like there's not enough time to review the material from a course and you're going to fail the exam? This is how I feel right now and my exam is in a few days. At first, I was thinking that I should get enough sleep and settle with not knowing everything for the exam. But now, I'm thinking of toughing it out and getting less sleep, like around 6 hours. It'll be difficult and I'll be sleepy, but I'll only have to tough it out for a few days. So what... I matched...now what!? (For current/past residents)
I matched (all glory to God )! I have reveled in this amazing feeling for the past 2 weeks. I have woken up with a smile on my face, went to sleep with a smile on my face, I even fell down the stairs (I wasn't smiling as I was falling) but when I got back up again(true story). What a joy it is to see your hard work come into fruition! In a few months, real life begins. I'm nervous and excited. I want to make sure I uphold the prestigious standards of my residency program and... I matched...now what!? (For current/past residents) (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Took CK and feel horrible
another one of those threads. Treating this one as an experiment because i had the same feeling about step 1 and still ended up in my practice score range. I keep remembering questions that i couldve probably thought more clearly about with more sleep and more time. Ill update when i get my score but in the meantime - anyone take it recently and feel really crappy about it? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How do you feel now that you ’re in?
I expected that gaining attendance to medical school would be a purely joyous experience. And, of course, many accepted students feel lucky and happy to get in. However, I found the whole experience seems to grind folks down. When finished, some people don’t seem to want to whoop it up, but rather they want to go to sleep (kinda like finishing finals). Has anyone else had similar thoughts/experiences? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What is the lifestyle of a IM hospitalist like?
I am applying to residency soon and I highly value some outside hobbies. I would like time for these hobbies and would also like some sleep, eventually. I know that IM residency is grueling. But I am curious about what the lifestyle is like? Is it one week on, one week off? And on the week off, do you have any energy left? What are the other models of working? It confuses me a lot because sometimes I see hospitalists at my school work for weeks and months at a time. Does it get tiring? Is... What is the lifestyle of a IM hospitalist like?
