The development and application of the Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI)
Crit Rev Microbiol. 2024 Apr 23:1-11. doi: 10.1080/1040841X.2024.2344112. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe prevalence of asthma in the United States (U.S.) has doubled since 1970, coinciding with the increased use of gypsum-drywall in home construction. Mold growth is promoted when gypsum-drywall gets wet. Since asthma is linked to mold exposures, accurate quantification of mold contamination in homes is critical. Therefore, qPCR assays were created and then used to quantify 36 common molds in dust collected in representative U.S. homes during the first American Health Homes Survey (AHHS). The concentrations of the 36 mol...

Activities of daily living, self-efficacy and motor skill related fitness and the interrelation in children with moderate and severe Developmental Coordination Disorder
ConclusionsChildren with DCD participate and enjoy physical activity less than their peers. This combination of lower participation, lower predilection to physical activity and lowered motor skill-related fitness is a concern for the present and future health status of children with DCD. The North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) Pass Rate Conundrum
Am J Pharm Educ. 2024 Apr 17:100701. doi: 10.1016/j.ajpe.2024.100701. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAs first-time pass rates on the North American Pharmacy Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) continue to decrease, pharmacy educators are left questioning the dynamics causing the decline and how to respond. Institutional and student factors both influence first-time NAPLEX pass rates. Pharmacy schools established before 2000, those housed within an academic medical center, and public rather than private schools have been associated with tendencies towards higher first-time NAPLEX pass rates. However, these factors alone do not su...
