Development in the Inhibition of Dengue Proteases as Drug Targets
CONCLUSION: Different classes of compounds have been reported against DENV, such as nitrogen-containing heterocycles (i.e., imidazole, pyridine, triazoles quinazolines, quinoline, and indole), oxygen-containing heterocycles (i.e., coumarins), and some are mixed heterocyclic compounds of S, N (thiazole, benzothiazine, and thiazolidinediones), and N, O (i.e., oxadiazole). There have been reports of computationally designed compounds to impede the molecular functions of specific structural and non-structural proteins as potential therapeutic targets. This review summarized the current progress in developing dengue protease in...

Establishment and multicenter external validation of a risk prediction model for de novo intracranial aneurysms based on a systematic review and meta-analysis of 19 cohorts
CONCLUSIONS: This prediction model is a convenient and intuitive tool for identifying high-risk patients with de novo IAs. Reasonable use of the model can not only aid in clinical decision-making but also play a positive role in the prevention of aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage to a certain extent.PMID:37724813 | DOI:10.3171/2023.7.JNS23749

Characterization of photochemical losses of volatile organic compounds and their implications for ozone formation potential and source apportionment during summer in suburban Jinan, China
Environ Res. 2023 Sep 17;238(Pt 1):117158. doi: 10.1016/j.envres.2023.117158. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTVolatile organic compounds (VOCs) undergo substantial photochemical losses during their transport from emission sources to receptor sites, resulting in serious implications for their source apportionment and ozone (O3) formation. Based on the continuous measurements of VOCs in suburban Jinan in August 2022, the effects of photochemical losses on VOC source contributions and O3 formation were evaluated in this study. The observed and initial concentrations of total VOCs (TVOC) were 12.0 ± 5.1 and 16.0 ± 7.4 ppbv, re...

Alteromonas Aquimaris sp. nov., Isolated from Surface Seawater
Curr Microbiol. 2023 Sep 19;80(11):343. doi: 10.1007/s00284-023-03472-0.ABSTRACTA Gram-negative, aerobic, motile by flagellum, and rod-shaped bacterium, designated ASW11-7T, was isolated from coastal surface seawater sample collected from the Yellow Sea, PR China. Strain ASW11-7T grew optimally at 37℃, 4.0% (w/v) NaCl and pH 7.0. Phylogenetic analysis based on the 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain ASW11-7T belongs to the genus Alteromonas and most closely related to Alteromonas ponticola MYP5T (99.6% similarity), followed by Alteromonas confluentis DSSK2-12T (98.2%), Alteromonas lipolytica JW12T (98.2%), and A...

A large survey on COVID-19 vaccination in patients with Parkinson's disease and healthy population
CONCLUSIONS: The COVID-19 vaccination rate was remarkably lower in PD patients than healthy individuals in China. The approved vaccines have shown an acceptable safety profile. Our findings would offer a reference to guide future clinical decision-making of COVID-19 vaccination and improve the immunization management of PD patients.PMID:37726180 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2023.09.002

Women's experiences of primary dysmenorrhea symptoms: a systematic review of qualitative evidence and meta-aggregation
Women Health. 2023 Sep 14;63(8):658-668. doi: 10.1080/03630242.2023.2255289. Epub 2023 Sep 19.ABSTRACTPrimary dysmenorrhea (PD) has a significant impact on women's lives, especially among young women who miss school and work due to painful periods. Experiences and how women manage PD have been explored to some extent, but the evidence has not been systematically collated and reviewed to allow health professionals to better understand women's experiences of and perceptions about PD. Hence, we aim to synthesize the qualitative evidence related to women's experiences of PD and associated symptoms. For this purpose, seven data...

Quality of evidence supporting the role of acupuncture for breast cancer-related lymphoedema: an overview of systematic reviews and meta-analyses
CONCLUSIONS: Acupuncture may be beneficial in improving BCRL. However, due to the identified limitations and conflicting findings, further more prescriptive and rigorous SRs/MAs are required to give strong evidence for final judgments.PMID:37721568 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05419-1

The mechanism of Plantaginis Semen in the treatment of diabetic nephropathy based on network pharmacology and molecular docking technology
CONCLUSION: PS can have the treatment on DN through CASP3. Quercetin, as one of the nine active ingredients, can be bounded to CASP3 to inhibit apoptosis in DN. PS can also take action on DN probably through many pathways. The role of PS on DN through other pathways still needs to be further elaborated.PMID:37718520 | DOI:10.2174/1871530323666230915100355
