Combined Endovascular Antegrade and Direct Retrograde Carotid Artery Stenting for Chronic and Long Segment Common Carotid Artery Occlusion: Technical Note and Review of Literature
Neurol Med Chir (Tokyo). 2023 Apr 6. doi: 10.2176/jns-nmc.2022-0397. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCommon carotid artery (CCA) occlusion (CCAO) is a rare cause of ischemic stroke and bypass surgery is the common treatment approach. However, safer alternatives should be developed to treat CCAO. A 68-year-old male was diagnosed with left-sided CCAO with decreased left visual acuity due to neck radiation therapy for laryngeal cancer. Recanalization therapy using a pull-through technique was initiated because cerebral blood flow progressively decreased during the follow-up period. First, after a short sheath was inserted into ...

Differences in Radiation-Induced Heart Dysfunction in Male Versus Female Rats
CONCLUSION: Together, these results illustrate that there are differences in radiation-induced cardiotoxicity between male and female SS rats and add to data that lung radiation doses may play an important role in cardiac dysfunction following heart radiation exposure. These factors may be important to factor into future mitigation studies of radiation-induced cardiotoxicity.PMID:36971580 | DOI:10.1080/09553002.2023.2194404

Development of a dynamic motion platform with two independent drive systems for radiotherapy
CONCLUSIONS: A new dynamic platform for radiation therapy with two drive systems capable of three-axis motion was developed, and the positional accuracy of the drive axes was confirmed to be less than 0.2 mm.PMID:36951306 | DOI:10.1002/acm2.13971

Contribution of nuclear medicine to the diagnosis and management of primary brain tumours
Rev Neurol (Paris). 2023 Mar 16:S0035-3787(23)00874-3. doi: 10.1016/j.neurol.2023.03.002. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPositron emission tomography (PET) is a powerful tool that can help physicians manage primary brain tumours at diagnosis and follow-up. In this context, PET imaging is used with three main types of radiotracers: 18F-FDG, amino acid radiotracers, and 68Ga conjugated to somatostatin receptor ligands (SSTRs). At initial diagnosis, 18F-FDG helps to characterize primary central nervous system (PCNS) lymphomas and high-grade gliomas, amino acid radiotracers are indicated for gliomas, and SSTR PET ligands are in...
