The Impact of Donor Asphyxiation or Drowning on Pediatric Lung Transplant Recipients
Conclusions. This study evaluated the impact of DA MOD donors in pediatric lung transplant recipients and found similar rates of complications and survival in a propensity-matched cohort. These data collectively support the consideration of DA MOD donors for use in pediatric lung transplantation.

Mental health and demographic correlates of loneliness after left ventricular assist device implantation
This study used a cross-sectional survey design on a convenience sample of LVAD patients (n = 73). Logistic regression was used to identify demographic correlates of loneliness; linear regression was used to examine the relationship between loneliness and both stress and depression. Carotid artery structure and hemodynamics and their association with adverse vascular events in left ventricular assist device patients
We examined the association of these measures with the composite outcome as well as individual subcomponents such as stroke. After adjusting for established risk factors, the composite adverse outcome was associated with pre-operative moderate-to-severe carotid plaque (OR 5.08, 95% CI 1.67 –15.52) as well as pre-operative internal carotid artery stenosis (OR 9.02, 95% CI 1.06–76.56). Can the intermittent low-speed function of left ventricular assist device prevent aortic insufficiency?

Identification of characteristics, risk factors, and predictors of recurrent LVAD thrombosis: conditions in HeartWare devices
ConclusionRecurrent HVAD thrombosis mostly appears within 12  months after first thrombosis. Systemic t-PA therapy for recurrent pump thrombosis seems safe, achieving comparable effectiveness rates to initial t-PA therapy. Survival does not differ between patients with or without recurrent HVAD thrombosis.

Transplant Radical Nephrectomy and Transplant Radical Nephroureterectomy for Renal Cancer: Postoperative and Survival Outcomes.
CONCLUSIONS This study reports outcomes of the largest series of transplant radical nephrectomy and nephroureterectomy for malignancies of renal allografts. Excess Stroke Deaths in Kidney Transplant Recipients: A Retrospective Population-based Cohort Study Using Data Linkage
Conclusions. Kidney transplant recipients had excess stroke deaths, particularly at younger ages and women. Preexisting cerebrovascular disease was a potentially modifiable risk factor for stroke death, suggesting further studies of secondary stroke prevention for kidney transplant recipients.

Predicting post-LVAD outcome: Is there a role for cognition?
CONCLUSION: Cognitive performance was predictive of post-LVAD risk of stroke and death. Results are consistent with findings from other studies in non-LVAD samples and may reflect early signs of neurologic vulnerability. Further studies are needed to clarify the relationship between cognition and LVAD outcomes in order to optimize patient selection, management, and advanced care planning. Comparing Donor Heart Assessment Strategies During Ex Situ Heart Perfusion to Better Estimate Posttransplant Cardiac Function
Conclusions. Left ventricular functional parameters, especially ventricular work and reserve, provided the best estimation of myocardial performance following transplantation. Furthermore, simple NI estimates of ventricular function proved useful in this setting. Right ventricular and metabolic measurements were limited in their ability to correlate with myocardial recovery. This emphasizes the need for an ESHP platform capable of assessing myocardial contractility and suggests that metabolic parameters alone do not provide a reliable evaluation.
