Retinal Vascular Signs and Cerebrovascular Diseases
Conclusions: There is extensive and increasing evidence that a range of retinal vascular signs and disease are closely linked to CeVD, including subclinical and clinical CeVD. New technology including AI-DL will allow further translation to clinical utilization.

Updates in the Management of Cryptogenic Stroke and Patent Foramen Ovale
Conclusions: Stroke management is based on evaluation of individual patient-risk factors. Evaluation and treatment is ideally directed by a vascular neurologist to ensure optimal secondary prevention, especially in cases where an underlying etiology is not identified on initial workup.

WEBINO syndrome (wall-eyed bilateral internuclear ophthalmoplegia) secondary to ischemic stroke, about a case.
We present the case of a 68 year-old man who was initially attended in emergency department with sudden onset diplopia. Neurological exploration revealed WEBINO and gait ataxia. Relevant medical history included liver transplantation and subsequent tacrolimus prescription. Complementary exams revealed ischemic lesion in mesencephalic tegmentum, involving medial longitudinal fasciculus and pretectal area. WEBINO syndrome is unfrequent. Among its etiologies, ischemic and demyelinating are the most frequent. In our case, iatrogenic etiology was also considered. Clinical recognition of this syndrome is required to perform adeq...

Link of ocular pseudoexfoliation syndrome and vascular system changes: results from 10-year follow-up study
ConclusionThe prevalence of the PEX increased significantly with age. The risk of the PEX was significantly higher among persons with IHD and even higher among persons with IHD and stroke. In the future, a greater understanding of the cardiovascular, metabolic, and environmental components associated with the PEX may lead to more specific lifestyle-related preventive strategies to decrease the disease burden.

Spectrum of Eye Disease in Diabetes (SPEED) in India: A prospective facility-based study. Report # 3. Retinal vascular occlusion in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Conclusion: RVO is a frequent finding in people with T2DM. History of stroke carries the highest risk followed by HTN. The management of people with T2DM and RVO must also include comanagement of all associated systemic conditions.

Involvement of regulated necrosis in blinding diseases: Focus on necroptosis and ferroptosis.
Abstract Besides apoptosis, necrosis can also occur in a highly regulated and genetically controlled manner, defined as regulated necrosis, which is characterized by a loss of cell membrane integrity and release of cytoplasmic content. Depending on the involvement of its signal pathway, regulated necrosis can be further classified as necroptosis, ferroptosis, pyroptosis and parthanatos. Numerous studies have demonstrated that regulated necrosis is involved in the pathogenesis of many diseases covering almost all organs including the brain, heart, liver, kidney, intestine, blood vessel, eye and skin, particularly m...

Multifocal Stroke From Ozone Gas Emboli
Abstract: A 34-year-old man with chronic neck pain was treated with regular cervical paravertebral ozone injections. After his last injection, he experienced a syncopal episode and, upon awakening, was found to have ataxia, aphasia, hemiparesis, and left sixth nerve palsy. Computed tomographic angiography demonstrated intra-arterial gas in the right vertebral artery; multiple posterior circulation infarcts were seen on brain MRI. This case illustrates the potential dangers of paravertebral injections of ozone.

Vitrectomy for idiopathic macular hole in patients aged 80 years or older: efficacy and safety.
Conclusions: The results from our study indicate the efficacy and safety of vitrectomy for idiopathic macular hole in patients aged 80 years or older, and idiopathic MH surgery should not be denied on basis of patient age alone. PMID: 31747306 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Sudden-onset trochlear nerve palsy: clinical characteristics and treatment implications
ConclusionsPatients with acute superior oblique palsy invariably complain of vertical and/or torsional diplopia. Neuroimaging should be considered in cases of acquired superior oblique palsy without a known traumatic cause. Bilateral cases of acquired superior oblique palsy are more challenging to manage surgically because of symptomatic torsional diplopia.

Controversies on neuroprotection therapy in non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy.
CONCLUSIONS: Unfortunately, in spite of all the experimental and clinical research on neuroprotection agents in NA-AION so far, we have no scientifically proven evidence of neuroprotection agents showing any benefit in the human clinical studies so far.
