Association Between Spontaneous Internal Carotid Artery Dissection and Perivascular Adipose Tissue Attenuation on Computed Tomography Angiography
This study evaluated the CT attenuation of PVAT surrounding the internal carotid artery (PVATcarotid) with and without spontaneous dissection.

Middle Cerebral Artery Dissection: A Report of Two Cases With Treatments and Outcomes
Cureus. 2023 May 29;15(5):e39632. doi: 10.7759/cureus.39632. eCollection 2023 May.ABSTRACTIn the present report, we describe two cases of right-sided M1 segment middle cerebral artery dissection in a 51-year-old Asian female and in a 28-year-old Caucasian male patient with no previous history of ischemic stroke or known intracranial atherosclerosis presenting with acute unilateral headache progressing to severe multifocal hemispheric infarction with nearly complete one-sided motor paralysis. In both patients, a middle cerebral artery dissection was detected on angiography; they were given exclusively medical therapy: patie...

Clinical Significance and Influencing Factors of Microvascular Tissue Reperfusion After Macrovascular Recanalization
In this study, we aimed to investigate the impact of tissue optimal reperfusion (TOR) and its influencing factors. From December 1, 2020 to December 1, 2021, AIS patients with successful recanalization (modified Thrombolysis in Cerebral Infarction score [mTICI]  ≥ 2b) after mechanical thrombectomy (MT) were retrospectively reviewed. Computed tomography perfusion was performed before and after MT. Successful reperfusion was assessed by TOR, defined as >  90% reduction of the Tmax >  6 s lesion volumes between baseline and early follow-up perfusion profiles. The impact of TOR on functional outcomes after...

Treatment of Intracranial Vertebral Artery Dissecting Aneurysms Using Pipeline Embolization Devices
ConclusionTreating IVADAs with PEDs may be a  safe and effective option, with favorable clinical and angiographic outcomes; however, complications associated with this treatment should not be ignored.Registrationhttp://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT03831672

Viz LVO versus Rapid LVO in detection of large vessel occlusion on CT angiography for acute stroke
CONCLUSION: Rapid LVO produced a significantly larger number of false positive values that may contribute to alarm desensitization, leading to missed alarms or delayed responses. EF and intracranial atherosclerosis were significant predictors of incorrect predictions.PMID:37355255 | DOI:10.1136/jnis-2023-020445

Zero-contrast imaging for the assessment of transcatheter aortic valve implantation in candidates with renal dysfunction
CONCLUSION: The proposed contrast-free imaging protocol appears to be a promising clinical tool for pre-TAVI evaluation in patients with severe renal dysfunction.PMID:37350345 | DOI:10.1080/0886022X.2023.2224888

Pivotal role of multiphase computed tomography angiography for collateral assessment in patients with acute ischemic stroke
AbstractThe cerebral collateral circulation is the main compensatory mechanism that maintains the ischemic penumbra viable, the tissue at risk for infarction that can be saved if blood flow is restored by reperfusion therapies. In clinical practice, the extent of collateral vessels recruited after vessel occlusion can be easily assessed with computed tomography angiography (CTA) using two different techniques: single-phase CTA (sCTA) and multi-phase CTA (mCTA). Both these methodologies have demonstrated a high prognostic predictive value for prognosis due to the strong association between the presence of good collaterals a...

Systemic lupus erythematosus associated with development of macrophage activation syndrome and disseminated aspergillosis
CONCLUSIONS: Four features of this case merit discussion, including the: 1) infrequent association of SLE with MAS; 2) short interval between SLE diagnosis and critical illness; 3) manifestation of fungal tracheobronchitis with airway obstruction; and 4) lack of response to antifungal treatment while receiving ECMO.PMID:37349668 | DOI:10.1007/s12630-023-02506-2
