Dietary Flavonoid Intake and Carotid Calcification in Patients with Ischemic Stroke
CONCLUSION: Dietary flavonoid intake is associated with carotid calcification, and, therefore, may influence the risk of stroke occurrence and recurrence.PMID:37524067 | DOI:10.1159/000532117

Inflammation and immunomodulatory therapies influence the relationship between ATP-binding cassette A1 membrane transporter-mediated cholesterol efflux capacity and coronary atherosclerosis in rheumatoid arthritis
CONCLUSION: ABCA1-CEC associated with decreased atherosclerosis in patients with below-median baseline and time-averaged CRP and bDMARD use. Conversely, ABCA1-CEC associated with increased plaque in those with higher CRP, corticosteroid users, methotrexate nonusers, and bDMARD nonusers. While in well-treated and controlled disease ABCA1-CEC appears atheroprotective, in uncontrolled RA its action may be masked or fail to counteract the inflammation-driven proatherogenic state.PMID:37520890 | PMC:PMC10371792 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtauto.2023.100209

O-004 A propensity score-matched comparative study of balloon guide catheters vs conventional guide catheters for mechanical thrombectomy with stenting in tandem strokes: comparison of 1st-pass effect, symptomatic ICH, and 90-day functional outcomes
ConclusionBGCs used for concurrent MT-carotid revascularization with flow arrest were safe and resulted in superior clinical and angiographic outcomes in tandem stroke patients.Abstract O-004 Table 1Multivariate logistic regression analysis performed after propensity score matching to compare procedural parameters and angiographic and clinical outcomes between balloon guide catheter and conventional guide catheter groupsDisclosures A. O-010 Tigertriever in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke in patients with underlying intracranial atherosclerotic disease

O-012 Relationship between clot composition and procedural results for ischemic stroke aspiration thrombectomy: subset analysis from the INSIGHT registry
ConclusionsClot removed during neuroendovascular procedures can differ in consistency and removability, leading to an increased focus on thrombus composition as a crucial variable for improving outcomes of ischemic stroke. In this study, good final revascularization (mTICI 2b-3 at the final angiogram) occurred after aspiration thrombectomy regardless of clot composition. Ongoing analysis of collected specimens is expected to provide valuable information regarding thrombus biology and etiology and to aid in diagnosis, prognosis, and drug development.Abstract O-012 Table 1Clot composition vs procedural results for ischemic s...

O-017 Viz LVO versus rapid LVO in detection of large vessel occlusion on computed tomography angiography for acute stroke
ConclusionViz LVO and Rapid LVO had similar NPV, but Rapid LVO produced a significantly larger number of false positive values. False positive values can be a source of alarm desensitization, leading to missed alarms or delayed responses. EF and intracranial atherosclerosis were significant predictors of incorrect predictions in both software packages. We hope this data will be used to improve future algorithms.Disclosures A. O-026 Incremental value of arterial spin labeling (ASL) over conventional MRI sequences in the detection of intracranial arteriovenous malformations in patients with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT)
ConclusionsOur findings underscore the incremental value of ASL in addition to conventional MRI sequences as a screening tool in the detection of brain AVMs in patients with HHT. ASL was more sensitive than conventional contrast-enhanced MRI alone, potentially improving diagnostic accuracy in this patient population with many small AVMs. These findings further highlight the need for further research to explore the benefits of integrating ASL sequences into the initial evaluation and routine follow-up of patients with sporadic and HHT-related brain AVMs.Abstract O-026 Figure 1Disclosures W. O-063 First U.S. multicenter experience using the pipeline flex embolization device with shield technology for treatment of intracranial aneurysms
ConclusionOur study is the first to report the early experience with the newly FDA-approved PED Flex with Shield technology amongst US centers. Our results are comparable with non-US, international studies showing a high technical success rate and safe peri-procedural angiographic and patient outcome. P-001 Residual in-stent carotid stenosis and cigarette smoking are predictors of restenosis after stenting (CAS)
ConclusionWe present the largest single-center data in the US to date on carotid artery stenosis treated with CAS, and factors associated with restenosis. Residual in-stent carotid stenosis and smoking history were independent predictors. Maximizing treatment of initial stenosis within stent for carefully selected patients and aggressive smoking cessation education are important steps in preventing future carotid restenosis.Abstract P-001 Figure 1Carotid restenosis after carotid arty tenting (%) by categories of degree of residual stenosis after initial procedure (a), and by cutpoint of 29% (b)Disclosures P.
