QT Interval Dispersion as a Predictor of Clinical Outcome in Acute Ischemic Stroke
Conclusions: QTd was associated with poor functional outcomes at 1 year. QTd is a useful surrogate marker for adverse functional prognosis, which might help to stratify risk in patients with acute IS.

Introduction: The importance of preventing a secondary stroke
This is David David is 55 years old and a senior manager at an IT company. He had a stroke last year, but the cause couldn ’t be identified despite in-hospital investigations, including an electrocardiogram (ECG), 24-hour ambulatory monitor and echocardiogram. A diagnosis of cryptogenic stroke was made and he was discharged on antiplatelet therapy, blood pressure medication and st...

Ischemic stroke in a patient with interatrial block: Is it only a coincidence or a clear relationship?
Monaldi Arch Chest Dis. 2021 Apr 13;91(2). doi: 10.4081/monaldi.2021.1692.ABSTRACTAtrial fibrillation (AF) can be detected in nearly 25% of all patients with stroke by sequentially combining different electrocardiographic methods. Prediction of early cardio-embolic stroke remain a permanent challenge in everyday practice. The early identification of an increased risk for atrial fibrillation episodes (which are frequently asymptomatic) is essential for the prevention of cardioembolic events. One of the noninvasive modalities of atrial fibrillation prediction is represented by the electrocardiographic P-wave analysis. This i...

Electrocardiographic markers of incident atrial fibrillation in patients with cryptogenic stroke
Conclusion: PWD and P-wave axis predicted incident AF in this subset of pts with cryptogenic stroke. The ECG may be a toll to identify pts at risk of developing AF, although larger studies are needed to confirm these results. Abstract Figure.

IJERPH, Vol. 18, Pages 5753: The Use of Samsung Health and ECG M-Trace Base II Applications for the Assessment of Exercise Tolerance in the Secondary Prevention in Patients after Ischemic Stroke
Conclusions: ECG M-Trace Base II and Samsung Health are mobile applications that can assess cardiological parameters and exercise tolerance parameters in patients after IS, so they can be used to plan the intensity of exercise in rehabilitation programs.

Prevalence of markers of atrial cardiomyopathy in embolic stroke of undetermined source: A systematic review
CONCLUSIONS: Electrocardiographic, echocardiographic markers and advanced imaging modalities able to assess the morphologic characteristics of left atrial appendage and left atrial function may be important tools to discriminate AC among ESUS vs NCE stroke patients. Prospective studies exploring the association of potential AC markers with ESUS occurrence are warranted to validate their clinical utility.PMID:35065879 | DOI:10.1016/j.ejim.2022.01.024

The efficacy and safety of insertable cardiac monitor on atrial fibrillation detection in patients with ischemic stroke: a systematic review and meta-analysis
AbstractAtrial fibrillation (AF) leads to a high risk of recurrent stroke, and the insertable cardiac monitor (ICM), as a new kind of electrocardiographic monitoring device, has been proven to enhance the recognition rate of AF. The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of the ICM use in AF detection of patients with stroke. We pooled 1233 patients from three randomized controlled trials (RCTs). The detection rate of AF was superior in the ICM group to that in the control group at 6  months (risk ratio [RR], 4.63;P <  0.0001; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.17–9.90) and 12 months ...

Stroke Severity in Atrial Fibrillation Screening
This post hoc analysis of the Atrial Fibrillation Detected by Continuous Electrocardiogram Monitoring Using Implantable Loop Recorder to Prevent Stroke in High-Risk Individuals (LOOP) randomized clinical trial investigates if implantable loop recorder screening for atrial fibrillation can reduce the risk of severe stroke in individuals with risk factors or prior stroke history.

Atrial cardiopathy is associated with cerebral microbleeds in ischemic stroke patients
ConclusionsAtrial cardiopathy is associated with the presence, but not burden, of cerebral microbleeds in ischemic stroke patients. We cautiously suggest that atrial cardiopathy, either directly or through shared vascular risk, may contribute to the presence of CMB.

Extensive myocardial infarction complicated with stroke as the first presentation of HIV in A young sudanese male: A case report
CONCLUSION: The presentation of an acute coronary syndrome in a young patient should raise suspicion of uncommon causes and needs a prompt evaluation from digging up in history, detailed examination, and investigations with close follow-up to prevent the complications that may occur. on the other hand, known HIV Patients should be screened periodically with an electrocardiogram.PMID:36268312 | PMC:PMC9577595 | DOI:10.1016/j.amsu.2022.104653

Assessing electrocardiogram changes after ischemic stroke with artificial intelligence
by Ziqiang Zeng, Qixuan Wang, Yingjing Yu, Yichu Zhang, Qi Chen, Weiming Lou, Yuting Wang, Lingyu Yan, Zujue Cheng, Lijun Xu, Yingping Yi, Guangqin Fan, Libin Deng ObjectiveIschemic stroke (IS) with subsequent cerebrocardiac syndrome (CCS) has a poor prognosis. We aimed to investigate electrocardiogram (ECG) changes after IS with artificial intelligence (AI). MethodsWe collected ECGs from a healthy population and patients with IS, and then analyzed participant demographics and ECG parameters to identify abnormal features in post-IS ECGs. Next, we trained the convolutional neural network (CNN), random forest (RF) and suppor...
