Use of Intravenous Recombinant Tissue Plasminogen Activator in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients Taking Non-Vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulants (NOACs) Before Stroke.
CONCLUSIONS: -While experience of using rt-PA in ischemic stroke patients on a NOAC is limited, these preliminary observations suggest that rt-PA appears to be reasonably well tolerated without prohibitive risks for adverse events among selected NOAC treated patients. The PAr index, an indicator reflecting altered vitamin B-6 homeostasis, is associated with long-term risk of stroke in the general population: the Hordaland Health Study (HUSK).
Conclusions: Higher plasma PAr was independently associated with increased risk of incident stroke in all participants and across all subgroups stratified by conventional risk predictors. Our novel findings point to and expand the range of inflammation and immune activation processes that may be relevant for the pathogenesis and prevention of stroke. Association between Vitamin D and Risk of Stroke: A PRISMA-Compliant Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Conclusions: Our analysis indicated that lower circulating level of vitamin D was associated with an elevated risk of stroke, but extra supplement of vitamin D failed to show benefit in decreasing the risk of stroke. Vitamin E supplementation (alone or with other antioxidants) and stroke: a meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Supplementation with vitamin E alone is not associated with stroke reduction. Instead, supplementation of vitamin E with other antioxidants reduces the incidence of ischemic stroke but increases the risk of hemorrhagic stroke, cancelling any beneficial effect derived. Development of a novel composite stroke and bleeding risk score in patients with atrial fibrillation: The AMADEUS study.
CONCLUSION We have developed and validated 2 novel composite scores for stroke/thromboembolism/ bleeding that offer good discriminatory and predictive performance. However, these composite risk scores did not perform better than the easier and more practical 'traditional' stroke and bleeding risk scores that are currently in use, which allow greater practically and more personalised balancing of risks. Stroke prevention in AF patients in Poland and other European countries: insights from the GARFIELD-AF registry.
CONCLUSIONS: The GARFIELD-AF Registry data shows how distant every day clinical practice is from the guidelines. It shows that still in Poland, as well as in the rest of Europe, too many patients with low stroke risk are treated with anticoagulants, while too frequently patients at the high stroke risk are left with no stroke prevention. Changes in pre-hospital management of vascular risk factors among patients admitted due to recurrent stroke in Poland from 1995 to 2013.

Stroke and death in elderly patients with atrial fibrillation in Japan compared with the United Kingdom
Conclusions Elderly (age ≥75 years) patients with AF in both Japan and the UK are at similarly high risk of stroke and death, with OAC still underused in both populations. Ethnicity was not independently associated with the risk of stroke, regardless of OAC use or non-use.
