Nationwide Actions Against Heart Failure Pandemic in Japan - What Should We Do From Academia?
Nationwide Actions Against Heart Failure Pandemic in Japan - What Should We Do From Academia? Circ J. 2019 Aug 06;: Authors: Komuro I, Kaneko H, Morita H, Isobe M, Nakayama H, Minematsu K, Yamaguchi T, Yazaki Y Abstract Heart failure pandemic is rapidly approaching in Japan, requiring nationwide actions. In particular, the Japanese Circulation Society and related societies launched the Stroke and Cardiovascular Disease Control Act, which was passed by the National Diet, as the first ever legislative policy measure against stroke and cardiovascular disease. In association with this, actions against h...

Incidence and Distribution of Cerebral Embolism After Cardiac Surgery According to the Systemic Perfusion Strategy - A Diffusion-Weighted Magnetic Resonance Imaging Study.
CONCLUSIONS: According to the results of postoperative DW-MRI, retrograde perfusion itself might not increase the incidence of postoperative cerebral embolism in properly selected cardiac surgery patients undergoing routine preoperative CTA examination. PMID: 31776305 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Differences in Flow-Gradient Patterns Between Severe Bicuspid Aortic Stenosis and Severe Tricuspid Aortic Stenosis - Mechanistic Insight From Multimodal Imaging.
CONCLUSIONS: Flow-gradient patterns in bicuspid AS differ from those of tricuspid AS and are associated with the structural and functional characteristics of the aorta. PMID: 31787664 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Fasting and Non-Fasting Triglycerides and Risk of Cardiovascular Events in Diabetic Patients Under Statin Therapy.
CONCLUSIONS: Non-fasting TG could be considered as a substitute for fasting TG as a risk stratification for future CV events among Japanese diabetic patients. PMID: 32023582 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Extent of Late Gadolinium Enhancement Predicts Thromboembolic Events in Patients With Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy.
CONCLUSIONS: LGE extent (>14.4%) is an independent predictor for thromboembolic complications in patients with HCM and might therefore be considered as an important risk marker. The risk for thromboembolic events is significantly elevated if accompanied by AF. PMID: 32238665 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Independent Factors for In-Hospital Death Following Drug-Eluting Stent Thrombosis From the Japanese Adverse Event Report System.
CONCLUSIONS: LMT, CHF, hemodialysis, prior stroke, and older age were independently associated with higher risk of in-hospital death following DES-ST. If target patients have these factors, maximum preventive strategies against ST occurrence, including adequate dual-antiplatelet therapy duration and optimal DES deployment procedures, are required. Incidence of Cardiovascular Events and Safety Profile of Prasugrel in Korean Patients With Acute Coronary Syndrome.
CONCLUSIONS: The present results are similar to those observed in clinical trials where administration of low-dose aspirin plus prasugrel was associated with a low rate of major bleeding and CV events. PMID: 32713874 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Poor Increase in Pulse Pressure During Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing Predicts Cardiovascular Death of Patients With Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction.
CONCLUSIONS: ∆PP (peak-rest) can accurately predict cardiovascular death in patients with HFrEF and may be a useful new prognostic indicator in these patients. PMID: 32727977 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Comparison of Percutaneous Coronary Intervention, Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting and Medical Therapy in Non-ST Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome Patients With 3-Vessel Disease.
CONCLUSIONS: In NSTE-ACS patients with 3VD, CABG is independently associated with a lower risk of long-term cardiac death, revascularization and MACCE compared with PCI. Patients who received MT alone had the highest risk of long-term MACCE. PMID: 32848116 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

A Multicenter Prospective Observational Cohort Study to Investigate the Effectiveness and Safety of Rivaroxaban in Japanese Venous Thromboembolism Patients (The J'xactly Study).
CONCLUSIONS: In Japanese clinical practice, a single-drug approach with rivaroxaban was demonstrated to be a valuable treatment for a broad range of VTE patients. PMID: 32981924 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
