Long ‐term progression of white matter hyperintensities in ischemic stroke
ConclusionsAge and marked WMH at index stroke, but not stroke subtype, predicted long ‐term WMH progression after ischemic stroke before 70 years of age, whereas age and hypertension predicted acquisition of marked WMH in those with no or only mild WMH at baseline.

The Association of Lesion Location and Sleep Related Breathing Disorder in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke
ConclusionWe found no association of lesion location and SRBD in stroke patients, whereas established risk factors for SRBD, known from general population, were significantly associated with SRBD. Given the high prevalence of SRBD in stroke patients, these findings suggest that cerebral ischemia facilitates the occurrence of SRBD in patients with pre-existing risk factors rather than causing it by damaging specific central nervous system structures. Our findings can be used to identify stroke patients who might benefit from polygraphy screening.

Case Report: Brain Metastasis Confined to the Infarcted Area Following Stroke
Conclusions: Cerebral infarctions can cause neovascularization and disruption of the blood–brain barrier. Moreover, the compartmentalized cavity formed by the ischemic injury may accept a large volume of metastatic tumor cells. Such an altered microenvironment of infarcted tissue would be suitable for the colonization and proliferation of metastatic seed. Further, brain metastases should be considered, in addition to recurrence, when new focal neurological deficits develop in patients with ischemic stroke and comorbid cancer.

Left ventricular hypertrophy diagnosed after a stroke: a case report
ConclusionsElectrocardiogram diagnosis of left ventricular hypertrophy led to the diagnosis of apical hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in this patient. Left ventricular hypertrophy was only evident a few days after our patient suffered a stroke. The underlying mechanisms responsible for this remain unclear. Furthermore, differential diagnosis of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy should be considered in people with electrocardiogram criteria for left ventricular hypertrophy. Bilateral Vertebral Artery Hypoplasia and Fetal-Type Variants of the Posterior Cerebral Artery in Acute Ischemic Stroke
Conclusion: Patients with bilateral vertebral hypoplasia displayed a unique collateral supply, special stroke pattern, and younger stroke onset. Early recognition and stroke prevention should be considered critical in clinical practice.

Review of Cardiac Abnormalities with Hypercoagulable Testing in Ischemic Stroke Patients (P4.234)

Should Blood Pressure Targets After Lacunar Stroke Vary by Body Size? The SPS3 Trial.
CONCLUSIONS: We found no interactions between BP target groups and quartiles of anthropometrics for rates of stroke and death in SPS3.
