Conclusions— ECG-defined left atrial abnormality was associated with incident cryptogenic or cardioembolic stroke independently of the presence of AF, suggesting atrial thromboembolism may occur without recognized AF.

Conclusions— Increased cIMT and presence of carotid plaque are associated with increased risk of ischemic stroke in individuals with AF. Furthermore, they may improve risk prediction of stroke, over and above the CHA2DS2-VASc score.

Heart rate and ischemic stroke: the REasons for Geographic And Racial Differences in Stroke (REGARDS) study
ConclusionIn REGARDS, high resting heart rates were associated with an increased risk of ischemic stroke compared with low heart rates. Further research is needed to examine whether interventions aimed to reduce heart rate decrease stroke risk.

Conclusions: Elevated TnI concentration occurs in 1/10 of patients with acute ischaemic stroke. CONCLUSION: Non-cardioembolic disease was the overwhelming stroke mechanism in this middle-eastern cohort with only 4[percnt] of patients have cardioembolic stroke, in comparison to roughly 20[percnt] reported in Western cohorts. Electrocardiographic left atrial abnormalities and risk of incident stroke in hypertensive patients with electrocardiographic left ventricular hypertrophy
Conclusion: Abnormal PTFV1, a marker of left atrial abnormality, was strongly associated with incident stroke in hypertensive patients, independent of in-treatment SBP and other predictors of incident stroke. This association, in the absence of detectable atrial fibrillation, suggests that an underlying atrial cardiopathy may cause left atrial thrombus formation and a subsequent stroke without intervening clinically recognized atrial fibrillation.

Heart Rate Variability in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke at Different Stages of Renal Dysfunction: A Cross-sectional Observational Study.

Conclusion: If any relationship exists between stroke and PFO, this is more likely in PACI and POCI at a younger age. Predictors of 30-day mortality among patients with stroke admitted at a tertiary teaching hospital in Northwestern Tanzania: A prospective cohort study
ConclusionStroke is associated with a high 30-day mortality rate in Northwestern Tanzania. Determinants of Use of Long-term Continuous Electrocardiographic Monitoring for Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients without Atrial Fibrillation at Baseline.
CONCLUSIONS: When selecting the high-risk group of patients (with an NIHSS score > 12 and age > 64.5 years, or with an NIHSS score ≤ 12, age > 71.5 years, and triglyceride level ≤ 61.5 mg/dL) according to the CART model, the detection rate of paroxysmal AF was approximately double in the acute ischemic stroke patients without AF at baseline. How is Ambulatory Electrocardiogram Predictive of Stroke in Atrial Fibrillation Patients?
CONCLUSIONS: In Holter ECG monitoring detected AF, AF burden does not significantly impact the subsequent risk of stroke; whereas, CHA2DS2-VASc scoring is still a robust predictor of stroke risk.
