Association of 24 h Blood Pressure on Functional Outcome in Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke Post Intravenous Thrombolysis
Conclusion: An elevated mean SBP and greater SBP variability were predictive of poor functional outcomes, whereas a high SBP variability predicted sICH. Our study emphasizes the need for BP control and minimizing large fluctuations to achieve good poststroke outcomes.Cerebrovasc Dis

COVID-19 and Stroke Trends in A Tertiary Care Center from South India -Our Monsoon Experience
Conclusion: Our study was a hypothesis-generating study with a limited number of patients. This study has reconfirmed the higher severity of the stroke, with a higher mRS score and mortality during the pandemic, especially among COVID-19-positive stroke patients.

Influencing factors of stroke occurrence and recurrence in hypertensive patients: A prospective follow ‐up studies
ConclusionsFor people with high blood pressure, it is necessary to exercise properly, control body weight, avoid obesity, quit smoking, reduce alcohol consumption, and reasonably control blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood lipid.

Neuroprotective and Proneurogenic Effects of Glucosamine in an Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion Model of Ischemia
AbstractNeuroprotective, antineuroinflammatory, and proneurogenic effects of glucosamine, a naturally occurring amino sugar, have been reported in various animal models of brain injury including cerebral ischemia and hypoxic brain damage. Given that clinical translation of therapeutic candidates identified in animal models of ischemic stroke has remained unsatisfactory in general, possibly due to inadequacy of existing models, we sought to study the effects of glucosamine in a recently developed, clinical condition mimicking mouse model of internal cerebral artery occlusion. In this model of mild to moderate striatal damag...

High serum complement component C4 as a unique predictor of unfavorable outcomes in diabetic stroke
In this study, the association of serum complement levels with the prognosis of diabetic stroke was examined. Patients with acute ischemic stroke were recruited and were divided into two groups according to their history of diabetes. Baseline data on the admission, including C3 and C4 were collected. Neurologic function at discharge was the primary outcome and was quantified by the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). A total of 426 patients with acute ischemic stroke (116 diabetic strokes and 310 non-diabetic strokes) were recruited in this study. There were significant differences between the two groups in...

Causes of mortality in patients after first ‐ever stroke: A retrospective population‐based study
ConclusionThere are no sex differences in mortality after first-ever stroke. Elderly patients need more support and attention due to greater stroke mortality. Complete blood count, lipid profile and blood levels of urea, creatinine, and fasting blood sugar may be useful in predicting mortality after first-ever stroke.

Modified Renshen Yangrong decoction enhances angiogenesis in ischemic stroke through promotion of MicroRNA ‐210 expression by regulating the HIF/VEGF/Notch signaling pathway
ConclusionGSYRD promotes cerebral protection following angiogenesis and ischemic brain injury. The specific mechanism was activating the HIF/VEGF/Notch signaling pathway via miRNA-210.

Molecular profile of the rat peri-infarct region four days after stroke: Study with MANF.
In this study, we examine the molecular profile of the peri-infarct region on post-stroke day four, time when reparative processes are ongoing. We used a multiomics approach, involving RNA sequencing, and mass spectrometry-based proteomics and metabolomics to characterize molecular changes in the peri-infarct region. We also took advantage of our previously developed method to express transgenes in the peri-infarct region where self-complementary adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors were injected into the brain parenchyma on post-stroke day 2. We have previously used this method to show that mesencephalic astrocyte-derived...

Cell-Based Therapies for Stroke: Promising Solution or Dead End? Mesenchymal Stem Cells and Comorbidities in Preclinical Stroke Research
Conclusion The high prevalence of comorbidities in patients with stroke indicates the need for therapies in preclinical studies that take into account these comorbidities in order to avoid failures in translation to the patient. Preclinical studies are beginning to evaluate the efficacy of MSC treatment in stroke associated with comorbidities, especially hypertension, for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Regarding aging and diabetes, only ischemic stroke studies have been performed. For the moment, few studies have been performed and contradictory results are being reported. These contradictory results may be due to the u...

Predictors of intracerebral hemorrhage in acute stroke patients receiving intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator
Conclusion: High NIHSS score, increased stroke onset to thrombolysis time , high blood sugar at presentation ,prior diabetes and hypertension increase the chances of sICH. None of these contraindicate thrombolysing strokes but should caution the physician.
