Ischemic stroke in liver cirrhosis: epidemiology, risk factors, and in-hospital outcomes
Conclusion Ischemic stroke was often observed in patients with cirrhosis, and it significantly increased the in-hospital mortality. The association of inflammation, coagulation disorders, and viral hepatitis with development of ischemic stroke in liver cirrhosis should be further evaluated in prospective cohort studies.

Prognostic value of viral eradication for major adverse cardiovascular events in hepatitis C cirrhotic patients
Conclusion In patients with compensated HCV-related cirrhosis, Asian ethnic origin, arterial hypertension, smoking and low serum albumin are independent predictive factors of cardiovascular events, while a sustained virological response is associated with a decreased rate of cardiovascular events.

Imaging of a Fatal Air Embolism from ERCP (P4.363)
CONCLUSIONS: Though most of the occurrences in relation to ERCP are portal venous air embolisms, which are absorbed spontaneously, serious and sometimes fatal complications have occurred including arterial air embolisms causing multiorgan damage including cerebral infarcts. Case history, pertinent imaging and pathological findings are discussed to bring awareness of this rare complication of ERCP and emphasize its early recognition. Cardiovascular Comorbidities Relate More than Others with Disease Activity in Rheumatoid Arthritis
Conclusions Cardiovascular comorbidities relate more than others with disease activity in RA. Diabetes and hyperlipidemia in particular seem associated with higher and lower disease activity respectively influencing almost all considered outcomes, suggesting a special importance of this pattern of comorbidities in disease activity assessment and clinical management.

Association of hepatitis B virus infection with decreased ischemic stroke
ConclusionHBV was correlated with a reduced risk of AIS development. Although a decrease in AIS risk was noted in the patients with HBV, preventing the development of AIS in this population warrants further attention.
