Prevalence and trends of adult overweight and obesity in Nigeria & #8212; A systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion: The prevalence of obesity and overweight in Nigeria is high with a rising trend over the years. A Nigerian national health survey of non-communicable diseases especially the burden of overweight/obesity is recommended to through more light on the subject. There is need for concerted effort to tame the tide of rising obesity rates in Nigeria.

Hemoglobin A1c-related histologic characteristics of symptomatic carotid plaques
Conclusions: Increased HbA1c values seem to contribute to plaque instability through the formation of a thin fibrous cup. Thus, of the carotid artery plaque parameters including fibrous cup thickness, plaque rupture, lipid core, inflammation, intraplaque hemorrhage, thrombus, calcification, necrotic core, and neovascularization, fibrous cup thickness is the only histomorphological feature that affected by HbA1c.

Stroke Risk Factors, Subtypes, and 30-Day Case Fatality in Abuja, Nigeria (P1.121)
CONCLUSIONS: Although hypertension, obesity, diabetes mellitus, and atrial fibrillation were important stroke risk factors, in many patients, these were detected only after a stroke. While the commonest stroke subtype was cerebral infarction, observed in almost two-third of patients, SAH was associated with the highest case-fatality rate at 30 days of 44.4%.
