Single-center experience of endovascular treatment for patients with progressive posterior circulation cerebral infarction exceeding 24 h
CONCLUSION: In patients with progressive posterior circulation cerebral infarction caused by vertebral basilar artery occlusion, ET is effective and safe even if the time from onset to puncture exceeds 24 h.PMID:37719319 | PMC:PMC10505061 | DOI:10.2478/abm-2023-0046

Comparative outcomes associated with rivaroxaban versus warfarin use in elderly patients with atrial fibrillation or acute venous thromboembolism managed in the United States: a systematic review of observational studies
CONCLUSIONS: This systematic review supports findings from subgroup analyses of randomized controlled trials that, compared with warfarin, rivaroxaban is associated with generally neutral or positive effects on thrombosis and a mixed picture on bleeding outcomes in older adults with either NVAF or VTE treated in the United States.PMID:37584187 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2247988

Investigation of Factors That Affect the Quality of Life After a Stroke
Adv Exp Med Biol. 2023;1425:437-442. doi: 10.1007/978-3-031-31986-0_42.ABSTRACTStroke, as a disease, describes a group of disorders characterized by the presence of central nervous system symptoms either as a result of ischemia (ischemic stroke) or bleeding (hemorrhagic stroke). The appearance of a stroke results in a permanent physical or cognitive disability. The stroke incidence is the third cause of death after heart disease and cancer, and is the main cause of long-term disability. The effects of a stroke on a patient's daily life, and hence on his quality of life, are intense and long-lasting. These include memory pro...

Low (0 –5) Alberta Stroke Program Early Computed Tomography Score on admission predictive of worse functional outcome after mechanical thrombectomy for anterior circulation large vessel occlusion
ConclusionsASPECTS values  ≤ 5 correspond with worse long-term functional improvement (mRS scores >  2) in patients undergoing MT for ACLVO-related AIS. Other independent determinants of functional outcomes after MT are age, baseline NIHSS score, HbA1c concentration, and successful recanalization.

Impact of anesthesia modalities on functional outcome of mechanical thrombectomy in patients with acute ischemic stroke: a subgroup analysis of DIRECT-MT trial
ConclusionsIn the subgroup analysis of DIRECT-MT, we found no significant difference in the functional outcome at 90  days between general anesthesia and non-general anesthesia, despite the workflow time being significantly delayed for patients with general anesthesia.Clinical trail registration clinicaltrials.gov Identifier: NCT03469206.

Effects of Conventional Speech Therapy with Liuzijue Qigong, a Traditional Chinese Method of Breath Training, in 70 Patients with Post-Stroke Spastic Dysarthria
CONCLUSIONS LQG, when combined with conventional speech therapy, enhanced the comprehensive speech ability of patients with PSSD compared with conventional treatment alone.PMID:37365796 | DOI:10.12659/MSM.939623

Gender heterogeneity in the influencing factors for cerebral microbleeds in acute ischemic stroke patients
CONCLUSION: There are gender differences in the influencing factors for CMBs in AIS patients. Age, old LIs, and blood glucose are independent risk or protective factors for comorbid CMBs in female AIS patients, although they are not associated with the risk of developing CMBs in male AIS patients.PMID:37259500 | DOI:10.1080/03007995.2023.2219581

A comparison of safety and efficacy between long-term DAPT and intensive statins combined with short-term DAPT for acute ischemic stroke
ConclusionsCompared to long-term DAPT, intensive rosuvastatin with short-term DAPT was equivalent in reducing the risk of recurrent ischemic stroke. It alleviated symptoms more rapidly, and significantly reduced the risk of bleeding, without causing an increase in transaminase or muscle enzymes.Clinical trial registrationChina Clinical Trial Registration Center (ChiCTR1800017809)
