Perioperative Stroke and Thirty-Day Hospital Readmission After Cardiac Surgeries: State Inpatient Database Study
CONCLUSION: Baseline patient characteristics and perioperative complications are significant predictors of readmission. More than one in five patients who develop a stroke after cardiac surgery are readmitted to the hospital within 30 days of discharge.PMID:35211215 | PMC:PMC8827220 | DOI:10.14740/jocmr4647

Attenuation in Proinflammatory Factors and Reduction in Neuronal Cell Apoptosis and Cerebral Vasospasm by Minocycline during Early Phase after Subarachnoid Hemorrhage in the Rat
CONCLUSIONS: Microglia may play an important role to regulate neuronal cell apoptosis and cerebral vasospasm through inhibiting inflammation at an early phase after SAH in the rat.PMID:34912890 | PMC:PMC8668279 | DOI:10.1155/2021/5545727

Low-dose thrombolysis for submassive pulmonary embolism
This study aimed to evaluate the role of half-dose tissue-type plasminogen activator (rt-PA) in preventing death/hemodynamic decompensation in submassive (intermediate-risk) PE without increasing the risk of bleeding. In a prospective, non-randomized, open-label, single-center trial, we compared 50 mg rt-PA plus low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) with LMWH in submassive (intermediate-risk) PE. Eligible cases had confirmed pulmonary hypertension on echocardiography, and/or right ventricular cavity expansion and/or interventricular septal deviation on echocardiography, and/or right to left ventricular ratio equal to or grea...

Comparative study of lumboperitoneal shunt and ventriculoperitoneal shunt in the treatment of idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus
CONCLUSION: LPS and VPS have similar curative effect in the treatment of iNPH, but LPS can avoid intraparenchymal hemorrhage (IPH) caused by ventricular puncture, and it increases the RFT.PMID:34786122 | PMC:PMC8581892

Effect of programmed nursing combined with cognitive behavioral intervention on clinical nursing effect and neurological function of patients with intracerebral hemorrhage
CONCLUSION: Programmed nursing combined with cognitive behavioral intervention can improve the clinical efficacy of patients with ICH, improve limb motor ability, and reduce neurological deficits, with high safety.PMID:34786100 | PMC:PMC8581945
