Excessive iodine induces thyroid follicular epithelial cells apoptosis by activating HIF-1 α-mediated hypoxia pathway in Hashimoto thyroiditis
CONCLUSION: Our study confirmed that excessive iodine adsorption activates the HIF-1α-mediated hypoxia pathway to promote apoptosis of TFCs, which may be an important risk factor contributing to HT development.PMID:36807042 | DOI:10.1007/s11033-023-08273-z

Downregulation of Rap1GAP Expression Activates the TGF- < em > β < /em > /Smad3 Pathway to Inhibit the Expression of Sodium/Iodine Transporter in Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Cells
CONCLUSION: The downregulation of Rap1GAP expression can activate the TGF-β/Smad3 pathway to inhibit NIS expression and alter the tumor cell functions of PTC.PMID:34840979 | PMC:PMC8616680 | DOI:10.1155/2021/6840642

Scutellarin Protects Against Myocardial Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury by Suppressing NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation
ConclusionsThe cardioprotective effect of Scu was achieved through its anti-inflammatory effect. It suppressed the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome. In addition, inflammasome restriction by Scu was dependent on Akt activation and mTORC1 inhibition.

Systems Biology Approaches and Precision Oral Health: A Circadian Clock Perspective
Conclusion Most head and neck pathologies show a broad cellular heterogeneity making it difficult to achieve an accurate diagnosis and efficient treatment (Graf and Zavodszky, 2017; Lo Nigro et al., 2017). Single cell analysis of circadian omics (Lande-Diner et al., 2015; Abraham et al., 2018), may be a crucial tool needed in the future to fully understand the circadian control of head and neck diseases. It becomes more obvious that there is only a small genetic component but a largely unknown epigenetics and/or environmental component for most of the head and neck pathologies (Moosavi and Motevalizadeh Ardekani, 2016; He...

Targeting XIAP Via Degradation of MDM-2 By MX69 in Aggressive Lymphomas
Conclusion: Our data suggests that in vitro exposure of a wide variety of B-cell lymphoma cell lines (including BL, DLBCL, MCL or RRCL) to MX69 resulted in anti-tumor activity. Perhaps related to its anti-tumor effects, MX69 inhibited XIAP levels. These findings are similar to prior SiRNA XIAP knockdown experiments. Strong synergistic activity was observed when XIAP was combined with various chemotherapy agents and small molecules inhibitors (such as Venetoclax, ixazomib or ibrutinib). Ex vivo experiments using primary tumor cells isolated from lymphoma patients and lymphoma mouse models are been planned. Targeting Mdm2 an...

Participation of NADPH 4 oxidase in thyroid regulation
Publication date: Available online 11 October 2018Source: Molecular and Cellular EndocrinologyAuthor(s): Romina Oglio, Leonardo Salvarredi, Luciano Rossich, Silvia Copelli, Mario Pisarev, Guillermo Juvenal, Lisa ThomaszAbstractDifferent factors are involved in thyroid function and proliferation such as thyrotropin (TSH), insulin, growth factors, iodide, etc. TSH and IGF1/insulin increase proliferation rate and stimulate genes involved in thyroid differentiation. In the present study, we analyse the physiological regulation of NOX4 expression by TSH, insulin and iodine, and the role of NOX4 on thyroid genes expression. Diff...

Regulation of NADPH oxidase NOX4 by delta iodolactone (IL- δ) in thyroid cancer cells
Conclusions The antiproliferative and pro-apoptotic effect of IL-δ is mediated by different mechanisms and pathway involving different sources of ROS generation depending on the cellular context. Graphical abstract

mTOR inhibition promotes TTF1-dependent redifferentiation and restores iodine uptake in thyroid carcinoma cell lines.
Conclusion: The present study has identified the TTF1-dependent molecular mechanisms through which inhibition of mTOR leads to redifferentiation of TC cells and subsequently to increased radioactive iodine uptake. PMID: 24712572 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
