Role of the Ca2+-Calcineurin-Nuclear Factor of Activated T cell Pathway in Mitofusin-2-Mediated Immune Function of Jurkat Cells.

GPER expressed on microglia mediates the anti‐inflammatory effect of estradiol in ischemic stroke
ConclusionsOur studies have suggested that GPER expressed on microglia mediated the anti‐inflammatory effect of estradiol after ischemic stroke. Our studies could potentially help to develop more specific drugs to manage inflammation postischemic stroke. GPER was highly expressed in activated microglia after ischemia and estradiol. The specific GPER agonist G1 could inhibit the secretion of proinflammatory cytokines including IL‐1β and TNF‐α, which the anti‐inflammatory effect of G1 and E2 were both abolished by the specific GPER antagonist G15.

Ascorbic acid and ascorbate-2-phosphate decrease HIF activity and malignant properties of human melanoma cells
Background: Hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α) is thought to play a role in melanoma carcinogenesis. Posttranslational regulation of HIF-1α is dependent on Prolyl hydroxylase (PHD 1–3) and Factor Inhibiting HIF (FIH) hydroxylase enzymes, which require ascorbic acid as a co-factor for optimal function. Depleted intra-tumoral ascorbic acid may thus play a role in the loss of HIF-1α regulation in melanoma. Investigation of the HIV‐1 Matrix interactome during virus replication
Conclusions and clinical relevance: The Strep‐tag allowed for the capture of viral protein complexes in the context of virus replication. Several previously described factors were identified and at least two candidate proteins were found to play a role in HIV‐1 infection.
