This study revealed that LDHA, which is a known damage marker, promotes CNS-specific angiogenesis. LDHA-mediated angiogenesis depends on vimentin on the surface of vascular endothelial cells. Conclusions: The present results suggest that different PPAR isotypes have varied protein expression patterns at the epicenter and in adjacent regions after SCI. Our results suggest that PPARs may have overlapping but distinct roles. These findings will be useful for further studies investigating PPARs in neurological disorders including SCI. ConclusionGRASE is sufficiently sensitive to detect decreased myelin within MS spinal cord plaques, NMO lesions, and PLS diffuse spinal cord injury. Decreased MWF in PLS is consistent with demyelination secondary to motor neuron degeneration. GRASE MWI is a feasible method for rapid assessment of myelin content in the cervical spinal cord and provides complementary information to that from DTI and qT1 measures.

Abstract In this chapter, we first describe two interchangeable protocols optimized in our lab for deriving definitive neuronal progenitor cells from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs). The resultant NPCs can then be propagated and differentiated to produce differing proportions of neurons, oligodendrocytes, and astrocytes as required for in vitro cell culture studies or in vivo transplantation. In this study, analysis of antioxidant defense was performed on the blood samples from 184 "aged" individuals aged 65-90+ years, and compared to the blood samples of 37 individuals just about at the beginning of aging, aged 55-59 years. Statistically significant decreases of Zn,Cu-superoxide dismutase (SOD-1), catalase (CAT), and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activities were observed in elderly people in comparison with the control group.
