Fibroblast Compression and Tumor Cells Migration
Role of Compression in MetastasisOurHuman Pancreatic Fibroblasts play a key role in this study.Pancreatic fibroblasts are continuously gaining ground as an important component of tumor microenvironment that dynamically interact with cancer cells to promote tumor progression. In addition, these tumor-infiltrated fibroblasts can acquire an activated phenotype and produce excessive amounts of extracellu lar matrix creating a highly dense stroma, a situation known as desmoplasia. ATP and Pain
P2XRs Play a Key RoleIn dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons, ATP is an important neurotransmitter in nociceptive signaling through P2 receptors (P2Rs) such as P2X2/3R, and adenosine is also involved in anti-nociceptive signaling through adenosine A1R.ENNPs interact with P2XRs to metabolize ATP to AMP in DRGs. Unmasking Root Causes of Stress/Anxiety
i-Fect Knocks Down Suspected Stress/Anxiety ReceptorThe molecular pathogenesis underlying anxiety disorders is still unclear. Here, the authors demonstrate that myristoylated alanine-rich C-kinase substrate like 1 (MARCKSL1) overexpression in mice increases spine formation in the amygdala and induces stress hormone upregulation and anxiety-like behaviors. Suppression of MARCKSL1 in the amygdala ameliorates both the increase in stress hormones and the elevated anxiety-like behaviors. Our results indicate that MARCKSL1 expression in the amygdala plays an important role in anxiety-like behaviors. This was proved, in part, by t...

In this study, the authors developed a 3D functional human microvascular network in a microfluidic device. The established model enables NeuromicsGFP-labeled human umbilical vein endothelial cells to form vessel-like microtissues and have physiological functions which are closer to cells in human blood vessels. The perfusable microvasculature allows the delivery of nutrients, and oxygen, as well as flow-induced mechanical stimuli into the luminal space of the endothelium. Cell to Cell Signaling and Depression
This study also features the use of our excellentGFAP markersAbstract: Extracellular ATP is a widespread cell-to-cell signaling molecule in the brain, where it functions as a neuromodulator by activating glia and neurons. Although ATP exerts multiple effects on synaptic plasticity and neuro-glia interactions, as well as in mood disorders, the source and regulation of ATP release remain to be elaborated. Here, we define Calhm2 as an ATP-releasing channel protein based on in vitro and in vivo models. Conventional knockout and conditional astrocyte knockout of Calhm2 both lead to significantly reduced ATP concentrations, loss...

3D Printing the Way to Artificial Muscles
Muscles Contract Under the Control Motor Neurons The methods used to develop the artificial muscles included use of ourGDNF Protein to maintain motor neurons in the 3-D Culture-Caroline Cvetkovic, Max H. Rich, Ritu Raman, Hyunjoon Kong , Rashid Bashir.A 3D-printed platform for modular neuromuscular motor units. Microsystems; Nanoengineering 3, Article number: 17015 (2017) doi:10.1038/micronano.2017.15Skeletal muscle cells and motor neurons were combined into a fabricated 3D co-culture system. C2C12 myoblasts were differentiated into multinucleated myotubes (a) and combined with extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins to c...

Renal Nerves and Blood Pressure
Role of Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) CGRP is a potent vasodilator so it is not surprising ourCGRP Antibody was used in this study. Petaka Cell Culturing System in Action
In this study, for hypoxia induction, Petaka G3 low oxygen transfer flasks (Neuromics) were used to culture melanoma cell lines or primary melanocytes for 48 –96 h at 37°C until>80% confluent: Rachel L. Gap Junctions (GJs) and Glaucoma
This study references use of ourGFAP Antibody,Gap junctions (GJs), intercellular channels composed of subunit connexins, can play a major role in secondary cell death by forming conduits through which toxic molecules from dying cells pass to and injure coupled neighbors. Secondary cells like glia and astrocytes are involved in this process though the precise mechanisms have yet to be defined: Abram Akopian, Sandeep Kumar, Hariharasubramanian Ramakrishnan, Kaushambi Roy, Suresh Viswanathan, and Stewart A. Bloomfield.Targeting neuronal gap junctions in mouse retina offers neuroprotection in glaucoma. J Clin Invest. doi:10.11...

Modeling HIV Latency
Generation of Infected NeuronsResearchers have developed a Neuronal Cell Line for the study of HSV-1 infection in humans. This line was developed by terminally differentiating human embryonic stem cells to neurons.Ourmouse monoclonal nestin antibodywas used as a marker for the neural progenitor phase of this differentiation.Aldo Pourchet, Aram S.
