The HDAC inhibitor domatinostat induces type I interferon α in Merkel cell carcinoma by HES1 repression
CONCLUSION: Our results demonstrate that the direct anti-tumor effect of HDACi domatinostat on MCC cells is at least in part mediated via decreased HES1 expression allowing the induction of IFNα, which in turn causes apoptosis.PMID:37071208 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-04733-y

A functional genetic screen for metabolic proteins unveils GART and the de novo purine biosynthetic pathway as novel targets for the treatment of luminal A ER α expressing primary and metastatic invasive ductal carcinoma
In conclusion, GART inhibition by LMX or other inhibitors of the de novo purine biosynthetic pathway could be a novel effective strategy for the treatment of primary and metastatic BCs.

LIF Inhibits Proliferation of Esophageal Squamous Carcinoma Cells by Radiation Mediated Through JAK-STAT Signaling Pathway
Conclusion: The findings of this study reveal that Carbon ion knockdown was shown to downregulate LIF in ESCC cells. LIF is involved in ESCC proliferation and inhibited the ESCC cell proliferation by activating the STAT3 signaling pathways.PMID:37057285 | PMC:PMC10088534 | DOI:10.7150/jca.81222

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 2189: THY1 (CD90) Maintains the Adherens Junctions in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma via Inhibition of SRC Activation
In this study we show that tumor invasion could be suppressed by THY1 via adherens junction formation in a few NPC cell lines, and knockdown of THY1 would disrupt this cell-cell adhesion phenotype. Mechanistically, the activity of the SRC family kinase (SFK) member, SRC, and canonical Wnt signaling were dramatically reduced when THY1 was constitutively expressed. Previous studies by others have found that high levels of SRC activity in NPCs are associated with EMT and a poor prognosis. We hypothesized that THY1 can suppress tumor invasion in NPC via inhibition of SRC. By gene silencing of SRC, we found that the in vitro NP...

CCT6A promotes esophageal squamous cell carcinoma cell proliferation, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition by activating TGF- β/Smad/c-Myc pathway
CONCLUSION: CCT6A facilitates ESCC malignant activities by activating the TGF-β/Smad/c-Myc pathway, which sheds light on the identification of a possible therapeutic target in the management of ESCC.PMID:37017854 | DOI:10.1007/s11845-023-03357-y

Stratifin promotes the growth and proliferation of hepatocellular carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that SFN may play an important role in HCC progression and may interact with CDC25B to promote malignant progression of HCC, providing a molecular target for future HCC therapy.PMID:36996719 | DOI:10.1016/j.tice.2023.102080

Near-infrared fluorescence imaging of hepatocellular carcinoma cells regulated by β-catenin signaling pathway
ConclusionsOur study uncovers a mechanism that links the distribution and expression of the membrane transporters OATP2B1 and ABCG2 to the tumor-specific accumulation of MHI-148, and provides evidence supporting a regulating role of the β-catenin signaling pathway in OATP2B1 and ABCG2- induced retention of MHI-148 inHCC tissues, and strategy targeting key components of MHI-148 transport machinery may be a potential approach to improve HCC imaging.
