Radiological assessment of immunotherapy effects and immune checkpoint-related pneumonitis for lung cancer
This article reviews the complications of immunotherapy in lung cancer and illustrates various radiologic patterns of ICI-pneumonitis. Additionally, it is tried to differentiate ICI-pneumonitis from other pulmonary pathologies common to lung cancer such as radiation pneumonitis, bacterial pneumonia and coronavirus disease of 2019 (COVID-19) infection in recent months. Maybe it is challenging to distinguish radiologically but clinical presentation may help.PMID:37525480 | DOI:10.1111/jcmm.17895

Longitudinal positron emission tomography and postmortem analysis reveals widespread neuroinflammation in SARS-CoV-2 infected rhesus macaques
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients initially develop respiratory symptoms, but they may also suffer from neurological symptoms. People with long-lasting effects after acute infections with severe res...

Can Coronavirus Disease 2019 Induce Sarcoidosis: A Case Report
Thorac Res Pract. 2023 Jan;24(1):45-58. doi: 10.5152/ThoracResPract.2023.22076.ABSTRACTSince the emergence of coronavirus disease 2019, a large spectrum of clinical manifestations following this acute viral infection has been reported especially autoimmune manifestations and inflammatory disorders. However, a causal link has not yet been established. Herein, we reported a case of pulmonary mediastinal sarcoidosis following coronavirus disease 2019 infection. A 41-year-old woman with no clinical or radiographic symptoms or signs of sarcoidosis prior to coronavirus disease 2019 infection developed dyspnea, cough, and fatigue...

The main predictive factors of worse outcome in patients with COVID-19 infection hospitalized in temporary COVID hospital
Conclusions: Patients with cardiovascular risk factors, low lymphocyte and platelet counts, high IL-6 and troponin T and, especially, increased age should not be treated in a TCH because of the high possibility for deterioration and need for transfer to an ICU.

A Novel Classification Model Using Optimal Long Short-Term Memory for Classification of COVID-19 from CT Images
AbstractThe human respiratory system is affected when an individual is infected with COVID-19, which became a global pandemic in 2020 and affected millions of people worldwide. However, accurate diagnosis of COVID-19 can be challenging due to small variations in typical and COVID-19 pneumonia, as well as the complexities involved in classifying infection regions. Currently, various deep learning (DL)-based methods are being introduced for the automatic detection of COVID-19 using computerized tomography (CT) scan images. In this paper, we propose the pelican optimization algorithm-based long short-term memory (POA-LSTM) me...

The Direct Impact of the COVID ‐19 Pandemic on Rhinology Practice
ConclusionsCOVID-19 significantly affected the number of patients seen, virtual visit encounters, nasal endoscopies, and imaging utilization. Further research is needed to determine if patient outcomes were impacted and if these changes in practice will persist. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved

Interactions and clinical implications of serological and respiratory variables 3  months after acute COVID-19
In conclusion, symptomatic patients 3-months after COVID-19 had high respiratory symptomatic burden, in which anti-S levels were significantly associated with previous severe COVID-19 and DLCOc.

Auto-immunoproteomics analysis of COVID-19 ICU patients revealed increased levels of autoantibodies related to the male reproductive system
Background: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) manifests many clinical symptoms, including an exacerbated immune response and cytokine storm. Autoantibodies in COVID-19 may have severe prodromal effects that are poorly understood. The interaction between these autoantibodies and self-antigens can result in systemic inflammation and organ dysfunction. However, the role of autoantibodies in COVID-19 complications has yet to be fully understood. Methods: The current investigation screened two independent cohorts of 97 COVID-19 patients [discovery (Disc) cohort from Qatar (case = 49 vs. control = 48) and replication (Rep) cohort fr...

Rare link between coronavirus vaccines and Long Covid –like illness starts to gain acceptance
COVID-19 vaccines have saved millions of lives, and the world is gearing up for a new round of boosters. But like all vaccines, those targeting the coronavirus can cause side effects in some people, including rare cases of abnormal blood clotting and heart inflammation. Another apparent complication, a debilitating suite of symptoms that resembles Long Covid, has been more elusive, its link to vaccination unclear and its diagnostic features ill-defined. But in recent months, what some call Long Vax has gained wider acceptance among doctors and scientists, and some are now working to better understand and treat its symptoms...

Predicting the COVID-19 Patients Status Using Chest CT Scan Findings: A Risk Assessment Model Based on Decision Tree Analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The presented algorithm demonstrates the factors affecting health conditions in COVID-19 disease patients. This model has the potential characteristics for clinical applications and can identify high-risk subpopulations that need specific prevention. Further developments including integration of blood biomarkers are underway to increase the performance of the model.PMID:37378771 | DOI:10.1007/978-3-031-28012-2_13
