COVID-19 burden and influencing factors in Swiss long-term-care facilities: a cross-sectional analysis of a multicentre observational cohort
CONCLUSION AND IMPLICATIONS: COVID-19 burden was high but also highly variable in Swiss long-term care facilities. severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection among healthcare workers was a modifiable factor associated with increased resident mortality. Symptom screening of healthcare workers appeared to be an effective preventive strategy and should be included in routine infection prevention and control measures. Promoting COVID-19 vaccine uptake among healthcare workers should be a priority in Swiss long-term care facilities.PMID:37011609 | DOI:10.57187/smw.2023.40052

Respiratory recovery trajectories after severe-to-critical COVID-19: a 1-year prospective multicentre study
Conclusions Although pulmonary function and radiological abnormalities improved up to 1 year post-acute COVID-19, high percentages of severe-to-critical disease survivors, including a notable proportion of those managed with standard oxygen, had significant lung sequelae and residual symptoms justifying prolonged follow-up.

Did radiation exposure increase with chest computed tomography use among different ages during the COVID-19 pandemic? A multi-center study with 42028 chest computed tomography scans
CONCLUSION: Chest CT was excessively used during the COVID-19 pandemic. Young and middle-aged people were exposed more than others. The impact of COVID-19-pandemic-related radiation exposure on public health should be followed carefully in future years.PMID:36988026 | DOI:10.5152/dir.2022.211043

Long-term lung perfusion changes related to COVID-19: a dual energy computed tomography study
CONCLUSION: Ground-glass opacities and lung PDs associated with COVID-19 pneumonia can persist for up to 80-90 days. Dual-energy computed tomography can be used to reveal long-term parenchymal and perfusion changes. Persistent PDs are commonly seen together with persistent COVID-19 symptoms.PMID:36960546 | DOI:10.5152/dir.2022.211090

Post-COVID condition or “long COVID”, return-to work, and occupational health research
In conclusion, COVID-19 remains an important topic for the occupational health research agenda, including acute and post COVID conditions. Although there is still debate about the definition of what a `post-COVID condition` entails, the sheer number of patients who are not returning to work in a timely manner or returning to work with limitations, and the lack of research interventions available should lead occupational health practitioners and researchers to work not only to prevent infection but to prevent or reduce work disability resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and future pandemics. Management, control, and decision making in unexpected recurrent venous thromboembolism in COVID-19: a case report
ConclusionIn the case of unexpected recurrent venous thromboembolism in coronavirus disease 2019, especially when patients are taking rivaroxaban or other new oral anticoagulants, such drugs should be substituted by warfarin, with routine follow-up, to maintain the value of prothrombin time and international normalized ratio within the therapeutic range.

Thalidomide for the Treatment of COVID-19 Pneumonia: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial
CONCLUSION: This study investigated the effects of thalidomide to treat moderate COVID-19 clinical outcomes. The results established that this drug regimen did not add more effect to usual treatment for moderate COVID-19 pneumonia.PMID:36926422 | PMC:PMC10012021 | DOI:10.4103/abr.abr_248_21
