Flipped Versus Online-Only Instruction in the Neurology Clerkship: A Comparative Effectiveness Study of Best-Practices in Medical Education (S3.002)
Conclusions: In this comparative look at contemporary curricular delivery approaches, we observed no difference in knowledge-based exam performance between flipped and online-only instruction. While higher ratings on clinical skills were observed with live instruction, more SDL was observed with online. Breadth vs. Volume: The Outpatient Neurology Clinic Experience in Medical Education (P5.038)
Conclusions: Our findings with an expanded data set reaffirm that the volume of cases seen by medical students in the outpatient neurology clinic correlate with performance on objective measures of specialty knowledge and clinical skill. Interestingly, no clear relationship emerged correlating the breath of clinical case types seen by individual students and their performance on these same measures. Brain death determination: Addressing the Concept at the Medical Student Level to Ensure Competency and Consistency in Practice (P1.057)
Conclusions:The overwhelmingly strong performance on the post-simulation quiz and the positive student feedback supports the notion that we can anticipate large gains in knowledge with modest cost to educators. That various EPA’s can be readily interwoven into the simulations highlights an additional avenue of education benefit. Medical education in movement disorders during the COVID-19 pandemic
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID ‐19) has presented widespread challenges for physicians and fundamentally altered how patient care and research are conducted. Importantly, COVID-19 has also significantly impacted the medical education of trainees [1,2]. We discuss the application of available technology to continue medical educa tion of trainees in movement disorders, as well as educating trainees in how to deliver exceptional patient care using this technology.
