Cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA)/total disc replacement (TDR) vs. anterior cervical diskectomy/fusion (ACDF): A review
CONCLUSION: Cervical CDA/TDR studies performed in appropriately selected patients showed a "lack of inferiority", occasional superiority, a reduction in the incidence of ASD, and ASD reoperation rates, plus comparable safety/efficacy vs. ACDF.PMID:36600752 | PMC:PMC9805637 | DOI:10.25259/SNI_1028_2022

Arthritis, a new adverse effect of anti-IL5 biologics in severe asthma patients?
We report a series of 9 patients presenting with onset or worsening of rheumatological diseases following the initiation of anti-IL5 therapies (mepolizumab n= 6, benralizumab n= 3).Patients were all-but-one female (mean age 62±12), with late-onset eosinophilic severe asthma on continuous oral corticosteroids (CS) (mean 15 mg/day). All of them were good responders to the anti-IL5 therapy. Rheumatologic diseases appeared (n=6) or deteriorated (n=3) 9 months (0-27) after initiation of biologic. All patients had specialized evaluation, with several diagnosis: unclassified chronic inflammatory rheumatism n=4; polyarthral...

Thoracic Involvement in Systemic Autoimmune Rheumatic Diseases: Pathogenesis and Management
AbstractThoracic involvement is one of the main determinants of morbidity and mortality in patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs), with different prevalence and manifestations according to the underlying disease. Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is the most common pulmonary complication, particularly in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc), idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Other thoracic manifestations include pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), mostly in patients with SSc, airway disease, mainly in RA, and pleural involvement, which is common in systemic lupus erythe...

Association of Gene Polymorphisms in CXC Chemokine Receptor 5 with Rheumatoid Arthritis Susceptibility
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2022 Oct 26;21(5):537-548. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v21i5.11041.ABSTRACTRheumatoid arthritis (RA) is caused by complicated interactions between genes and the environment. CXC chemokine receptor 5 (CXCR5) is required for B and T follicular helper cell migration and humoral immunity generation. Therefore, this study aimed to assess whether polymorphisms of the CXCR5 gene are implicated in RA development and progression. This case-control study enrolled 285 RA patients and 291 healthy controls. The polymerase chain reaction-ligase detection reaction method was used to genotype rs630923, rs497916, rs3...
