Influence of Estrogen on the NSCLC Microenvironment: A Comprehensive Picture and Clinical Implications
Lung cancer mortality represents the leading cause of cancer related deaths in the United States and worldwide. Almost half of these deaths occur in female patients, making lung cancer the most common cause of cancer mortality in women with a higher annual mortality rate than breast, uterine, and ovarian cancers combined. The distinct epidemiological, histological and biological presentation of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in women combined with extensive preclinical data have demonstrated that the female sex hormone β-estradiol (E2) plays an important role in NSCLC tumorigenesis, prognosis, and treatment response. ...

Acute cardiovascular changes in women undergoing In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionsIn Vitro Fertilisation leads to acute changes in maternal haemodynamics at different time points of the stimulation protocol. We found an increase in heart rate from pituitary down-regulation to peak estradiol levels and a significant decrease in blood pressure from baseline or pituitary down-regulation to the luteal phase. Cardiac functional changes were reported for all studies on the agonist protocol, but no significant changes were found using the antagonist protocol. It remains unclear as to whether these acute changes were associated with pregnancy complications or chronic cardiovascular sequelae.

Safety of vaginal estrogens: a systematic review
Conclusions: Newer low-dose estradiol rings, tablets, and inserts appear to induce the least increases in serum hormones, possibly indicating greater safety. Limited evidence in trials lasting up to 52 weeks suggest endometrial safety of vaginal estrogen use. Long-term trials are needed. Video Summary:http://links.lww.com/MENO/A513.

Late Onset Hypogonadism (LOH): bone health
ConclusionIn men with documented LOH a specific clinical work ‐up should be addressed to the diagnosis of osteoporosis in order to program subsequent follow‐up and consider specific bone active therapy. TRT should be started according to guidelines of male hypogonadism while keeping in mind that it may also have positive effects also on bone health in men with LOH.

In search of a new biomarker to predict poor ovarian response
Optimizing outcomes for poor ovarian responders remains a challenge in the field of assisted reproductive technologies. A variety of stimulation protocols and adjunct medications have been developed and studied, with no clear advantage in this population (1). The administration of estradiol in the luteal phase preceding stimulation is a widely used and low-cost technique. Data are mixed, but there may be benefit in improving outcomes in this population; however, the resulting stimulation tends to be longer and requires more gonadotropins.

Effects of Metabolic Syndrome on Semen Quality and Circulating Sex Hormones: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
In conclusion, this meta-analysis demonstrated the effects of MetS on almost all the semen parameters and part of the circulating sex hormones, and MetS tended to be a risk factor for male infertility. Further larger-scale prospective designed studies were needed to confirm our findings.

A current perspective into young female sex hormone replacement: a review.
This article focuses on hormone replacement in young females with hypogonadism, including a rationale as to why hormone replacement in such patients differs from treatment in postmenopausal females, a summary of symptoms encountered by females with hypogonadism and a comprehensive discussion of the various treatment options available, specifically focusing on the latest advances in the subject. A Medline search was conducted using different combinations of relevant keywords, giving preference to recent publications. EXPERT OPINION: Whilst traditionally oral contraceptive pills (containing ethynyl estradiol) were common...

Effects of isoflavone interventions on bone mineral density in postmenopausal women: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
ConclusionIsoflavone interventions, genistein (54 mg/day) and ipriflavone (600 mg/day) in particular, have beneficial effects on BMD outcomes and are safe in postmenopausal women. They may be considered as a complementary or alternative option in the prevention and treatment of menopause-related osteoporosis.

Estrogen-induced hypomethylation and overexpression of YAP1 facilitate breast cancer cell growth and survival.
Abstract Increased expression of Yes-associated protein-1 (YAP1) was shown to correlate with reduced survival in breast cancer (BC) patients. However, the exact mechanism of YAP1 regulation in BC cells remains ambiguous. Genomic sequence search showed that the promoter region of the YAP1 gene contains CpG Islands, hence the likelihood of epigenetic regulation by DNA methylation. To address this possibility, the effect of estrogen (17β estradiol; E2) on YAP1 gene expression and YAP1 promoter methylation status was evaluated in BC cells. The functional consequences of E2 treatment in control and YAP1-silenced BC ce...

Antiandrogen or estradiol treatment or both during hormone therapy in transitioning transgender women.
CONCLUSIONS: We found insufficient evidence to determine the efficacy or safety of hormonal treatment approaches for transgender women in transition. This lack of studies shows a gap between current clinical practice and clinical research. Robust RCTs and controlled cohort studies are needed to assess the benefits and harms of hormone therapy (used alone or in combination) for transgender women in transition. Studies should specifically focus on short-, medium-, and long-term adverse effects, quality of life, and participant satisfaction with the change in male to female body characteristics of antiandrogen and estradiol t...

The comparison of the effectiveness and safety of drospirone ethinyl estradiol and ethinyl estradiol cyproterone in the treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusion: The results of this study will provide theoretical basis for the drug treatment of polycystic ovarian syndrome and provide help in the decision-making of clinical treatment of the disease. Ethics and dissemination: In this study, meta-analysis was used to conduct a second study on the published literature. Therefore, this type of systematic review research does not need to be approved by ethics. OSF Registration DOI: 10.17605/OSF.IO/8GW9M.
