A systematic review of the characteristics and prognosis of subjects who suffer an embolic stroke of undetermined source.
CONCLUSION: The application of the new ESUS criteria provides a better definition of patients with cryptogenic stroke. Applying the concept of ESUS requires not only adequate electrocardiogram monitoring, but also routine complementary examinations to rule out the presence of minor sources of cardioembolism and other sources of embolism other than atrial fibrillation. Determinants of Use of Long-term Continuous Electrocardiographic Monitoring for Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients without Atrial Fibrillation at Baseline.

How is Ambulatory Electrocardiogram Predictive of Stroke in Atrial Fibrillation Patients?
CONCLUSIONS: In Holter ECG monitoring detected AF, AF burden does not significantly impact the subsequent risk of stroke; whereas, CHA2DS2-VASc scoring is still a robust predictor of stroke risk. Beneficial effects of stroke-unit care in stroke patients with atrial fibrillation.
