Epidemiologic features, risk factors, and outcome of sepsis in stroke patients treated on a neurologic intensive care unit
Conclusions: Sepsis seems to be a frequent complication of stroke patients requiring neurologic ICU treatment. Predictors of sepsis acquisition in our study were comorbidities and severity of deterioration of physiological status, but not stroke severity. A better understanding of risk factors is important for prevention and early recognition, whereas knowledge of outcome may help in prognosis prediction. Further studies are needed to clarify the optimal preventive treatment for these patients.

Association of Gallbladder Polyp and Stroke: A Nationwide, Population-Based Study
Abstract: Gallbladder polyp (GP) and stroke share several metabolic disorders as risk factors. We assessed the association between GP and subsequent stroke risk. From 2000 to 2011, patients with GP aged>20 years were identified from the Longitudinal Health Insurance Database 2000. Of the 15,975 examined patients, 12,780 and 3195 were categorized into the non-GP and GP cohorts, respectively. The relative risks of stroke were estimated using the Cox proportional hazard model after adjusting for age, sex, and comorbidities. Risk of stroke in COPD: a matched cohort study
Conclusion: Relative to matched controls, people with COPD are at increased risk of stroke; however, this increased risk declines with age. Conclusion: The mortality risk of patients with COPD is considerably increased by stroke independent of the other effects of COPD. Moreover, the average number of hospitalization days and frequency of medical visits dramatically increased in patients with COPD after stroke.

Stroke in young adults and incidence rate in 280 patients according to their aetiological subtype.
CONCLUSIONS: Stroke in young adults is infrequent (6.1% of the total), but represents the highest frequency of cerebral infarcts of unusual aetiology (36%). Effect of Chinese herbal medicine on stroke patients with type 2 diabetes
Conclusion The use of CHM as adjunctive therapy may improve the overall survival (OS) of stroke patients with T2D.
