Case report: EBV-related eye orbits and sinuses lymphohistiocytic infiltration responsive to rituximab in a patient with X lymphoproliferative syndrome type 1
ConclusionWe described an unusual presentation of incomplete HLH in a patient affected with XLP1: an EBV-driven infiltration of the orbits and paranasal sinuses. This led us to a challenging differential diagnosis of lymphoma-associated hemophagocytic syndrome, which can be frequently observed in patients with XLP1. Considering the extremely poor prognosis of this clinical finding, we sought for a prompt diagnosis and managed to obtain it and to immediately establish the right treatment on the basis of the pathological finding. Effectiveness and safety of mycophenolate mofetil and rituximab combination therapy for immune idiopathic myopathies
Idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) represent a rare and heterogenous group diseases, and their treatment is not fully defined yet. According to previous small case series, the combination of mycophenolat... (Source: Arthritis Research and Therapy)

Statin-induced immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy with concomitant increase of anti-HMGCR and anti-ACHR antibodies
We present a case of a patient with a severe phenotype of the disease that was found to have an increase in anti-HMGCR and anti-ACHR antibodies. A potential association between these antibodies have not been previously described. A 67-year-old male with hyperlipidemia, who was recently initiated on atorvastatin therapy, presented to the ED with progressive muscle weakness. Within a few days of admission, the patient developed complete flaccid paralysis and respiratory distress requiring intubation. The patient ’s CK was elevated to 24,000 and there was an increase of anti-HMGCR and anti-ACHR antibodies. Impressions from ...

Pancytopenia with aplastic anemia in systemic lupus erythematosus: case series and literature review
We report two cases of SLE patients who presented with pancytopenia, with bone marrow biopsy confirmed AA. One case was treated with cyclophosphamide but unfortunately succumbed to Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS), while the other case was managed with rituximab with a good response. Interestingly, both patients were on azathioprine before the diagnosis of AA. A comprehensive search for reported cases of AA in PubMed, Scopus, and the Directory of Open Access Journals databases was performed to enhance the understanding of the diagnostic and management challenges associated with AA in SLE, facilitating ongoing exp...

Progressive demyelinating polyneuropathy after hematopoietic cell transplantation in metachromatic leukodystrophy: a case series
AbstractMetachromatic leukodystrophy (MLD) is a neuro-metabolic disorder due to arylsulfatase A deficiency, causing demyelination of the central and peripheral nervous system. Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) can provide a symptomatic and survival benefit for pre-symptomatic and early symptomatic patients by stabilizing CNS disease. This case series, however, illustrates the occurrence of severely progressive polyneuropathy shortly after HCT in two patients with late-infantile, one with late-juvenile, and one with adult MLD, leading to the inability to walk or sit without support. The patients had demyelinating pol...
