Assisted living contracts
Does anyone have any information or guidance on WHAT contracts or language to have in place when contracting with an assisted living/nursing home as a mobile podiatrist? I have been doing this awhile (side job), but only as a contractor. I have realized I have been giving away a HUGE percentage by not securing these contracts on my own. The problem is that I am missing the piece of knowledge of: 1. Do I give them a general ABN? 2. A contract that makes that details the primary care... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help me rank
Hey guys I know it's a little bit early to think about ROL, but I want to get some insights from you. I've fortunately got 16 IIs, and having trouble ordering my #1 - #3. -Mount Sinai Morningside/West primary care track -Atlantic Health/Morristown Medical Center -Jersey Shore University Medical Center FYI, I have no plan for fellowship, planning to be a PCP, don't care about prestige or fellowship match rate, all I do care is QOL, supportive vibes, and safety near the location +/- better... Getting my training license reinstated 6 years after voluntarily leaving residency
I voluntarily left my FM residency in 2018 towards the end of my PGY2 due to personal reasons. No known academic/professionalism issues and was encouraged to stay by the PD, but she was understanding of my reasons for leaving and was very supportive through the process. 1.5 years later the personal issues were addressed and I applied for a medical license to work as a general practitioner in that state. A committee with the state medical board wanted to meet with me about my application... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rankings: primary care vs research
I'll start this off frankly: I am somewhat interested in research, but I mainly want to learn to be a good doctor and match well. That said, I see US News ranks based on primary care and research. Question 1: This is not reflecting my personal priorities, but wondering, is the research ranking weighted more heavily for competitive residency matching? Q2: What do you get when you go to a school that, say, ranks in top five for PC? Is it good for doctoring (which I think of as bedside... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mock interview, clinical experience concerns, imposter syndrome.
Hi there, so I had a mock interview with two professors (public health) from my university who were kind enough to practice with me. I asked for hard-hitting questions and honesty, which I am grateful for. One of them mentioned to me that my clinical experiences could be seen as not enough - I have almost five years of hospice patient volunteering and four months of primary care shadowing. The professor who asked said she applied to medical school like twenty years ago and got grilled... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Effect of being a reapplicant on matching IM
Hi everyone, I'm applying a surgical sub next year. Currently on a research year for the surgical sub. I'm pretty competitive for the field but I'm game-planning what I'm going to do if I end up not matching (match rate is like 50% so its a toss up for everybody). I go to a top 20 school, I got honors in every rotation except primary care, will probably have like 20 pubs when I apply (albeit most will probably be in the surgical field) and low 260s on step 2. I think my game plan right now... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Leaving job after a year
Current IM PGY-3, goal is primary care. Currently at a big academic center (not in NYC). A very long story but husband will be working in NYC for either 1 year or 3 years & we wont know which until Spring 2025. Abundance of PCP jobs but most expecting 2-3 year commitment. Hospitalist in NYC is seemingly nightmarish (so will PC probably but at least I like that…). UC is very FM/EM recruiting & I obviously cannot see kids. Would I be absolutely screwing myself over if I took one of these jobs... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Sports fellowships with the best spine training?
Per the title does anyone have any recs on which sports fellowship programs have good numbers for basic spine procedures? Also maybe which to avoid (obviously primary care based programs). Thanks in advance! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Family Medicine Physician and Resident Perspectives on OTC Hearing Aids
Hi everyone, I’m a medical student in Los Angeles, California, and I am working on an IRB-approved research project to help improve hearing care! I have a short 5-10 minute RedCap survey regarding primary care physicians’ perspectives and experiences (or lack thereof) with over-the-counter hearing aids. Our study would greatly benefit from your participation! We need less than 20 more responses before we are finished with data collection so your participation would be immensely...
