OUCOM: OKC vs Tulsa SCM
i was accepted to both tracks at OUCOM and can't decide which one to go with iirc, the SCM track has a much smaller class size (30-35 vs OKC's 150-170) and a focus on primary care please if anybody has or knows anybody who has personal experience with either track, let me know! Does research matter at all for academic primary care residencies?
I'm an OMS-II taking step and COMLEX in the Summer, and am also currently working on two projects, one which is under review for publication and another that I am trying to decide how much time I should dedicate towards it. I want to keep more competitive specialties on the table like radiology or anesthesiology on the table, but I could also see myself doing FM or peds. I ask this question because if there ever came a point where I realize a competitive specialty is off the table for me... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Reality Check: Why are there so many posts on SDN about OMFS specifically?
I think this might be an elephant in the room that doesn't get talked about in real terms... out of all the dental specialties and general practice, what is it about OMFS that generates so much buzz on SDN? My thought is the following and I'd love to hear opposing viewpoints or start a discussion: Dental students yearn to become oral surgeons because it is supposedly the highest paying specialty, it gives them a chance to flex on their classmates and future colleagues because it is a... Minnesota (IS) vs Marquette (OOS)
I am deciding between minnesota and marquette. The cost is pretty similar as far as I know. Although if anyone could fill me in on the total cost of attendance for each school I wold really appreciate it. Also, do either of these schools give out many scholarships? My biggest priorities choosing a school are cost and how prepared/competent I will be after graduating. Do either of these schools have a leg up on the other in terms of how ready their graduates are for general practice righ... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

G2211 add-on--when are you using it?
I just moved to primary care in November, so I'm still learning a lot of things on the go. The G2211 code was brought up recently by our organization. They sent us a tipsheet, but it's really vague. When are you using it? How often or what % of chronic visits. Do you ever use it for acute visits? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Orthopedics vs Family medicine with MSK focus
Trying to decide on specialties to apply for and have really narrowed it down to FM and ortho largely due to the patient population (sports medicine type of practice hopefully working with an increasingly active aging population), a strong interest in musculoskeletal cases, and working with my hands to get fast/robust improvements to peoples health. I know primary care and ortho sports med have a lot of differences, but I'd be shaping a primary care sports med clinic to be as close to ortho... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Do sports med docs also practice general family medicine?
The only sports doc I've met worked at a university for the athletes so I don't think he had a general practice. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

3+3 Accelerated Primary Care Program: Worth it?
SO! I was super fortunate to be offered admission to a tuition forgiveness + stipend primary care program. It's a great opportunity and I'm very excited. My issue is whether or not I should ask to be considered for their 3+3 program as well. It's a subset of the scholarship, so I'm not concerned with that part. My issue is if I'm functionally locked into a FM/IM residency with my home program, and since I want to work with children in addition to adults, FM locking off the option to... Direct primary care program vs pursuing the match
Hey everyone, third year medical student at a mid-tier MD program looking for honest advice. I have my sights set on IM, and my school offers the option of applying for a direct primary care program in which your fourth year is tailored towards residency preparation and is more similar to an intern year than a typical fourth year. Tuition is also free, they offer a living stipend, and you are guaranteed a spot in their match the following year. I do have some interest in primary care, but I...
