How many years can you practice before entering fellowship?
I would like to get a little more insight, as I am in a bit of a unique situation. I have been offered a scholarship from a school that will pay for all tuition + living expenses, if I agree to practice primary care for four years, in the state, following residency. I'd love to take the scholarship, but I do have a decent level of interest in some subspecialties of internal med. If I take this scholarship, and go into internal medicine, how accessible will fellowships be after being in... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

University of Maryland vs, Tufts (Maine track)
Maryland pro -close to home and SO -less expensive -more diverse specialties in a larger academic hospital -more research opportunities and more prestigious con -less focus and work with rural patient population -city environment Tufts pro -rural primary care focused (leaning towards this as a specialty) -new location and experience con -away from family and SO -more expensive -less prestigious I am wondering your thoughts... TMDSAS Rank: UTSW vs. Baylor vs. McGovern vs. Long
Hey guys! I know that match day is months away but I know for a fact these are my top 4 choices and that likely won't change with further interview invites. I don't know how to rank these, it could literally be a toss-up. *Disclaimer: prestige is not very important to me. I'm interested in primary care, and even if that changes, I don't think I'll pursue anything extremely competitive. Distance from home is also not a huge factor. I went halfway across the country for undergrad and it was... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why does AAMC advocate more residency slots when it hurts physicians?
Got an email earlier from the AAMC saying “Specifically, AAMC Action advocates on behalf of increased support for: New Medicare-supported graduate medical education (GME) positions to improve patient access to care by training more physicians to address primary care and specialty shortages in high-need areas, such as mental and behavioral health.” Have they looked at radonc and EM? Why would they advocate for this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Direct primary care as Internist?
I see a lot of DPC clinics ran by FM docs. I know you could do outpt as an Internist, but is it feasible to open your own DPC clinic as an Internist without seeing kids/OB? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)
