Colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection in the West: A systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions The effectiveness of colorectal ESD for large colorectal polyps and early colorectal cancers is improving in Western countries, and recent resection rates are comparable to that seen in Asia. Colorectal perforation is still observed in about 5% of ESD; however, < 2% of patients need emergency surgery for AEs. Growth rates and histopathological outcomes of small (6-9 mm) colorectal polyps based on CT colonography surveillance and endoscopic removal
Conclusion Small 6–9 mm polyps present overall low risk to patients, with polyp growth strongly associated with higher risk lesions. Most patients (75%) with small 6–9 mm polyps will see polyp stability or regression, with advanced histology seen in only 7%. The minority of patients (25%) with small polyps that do grow have a 3-fold increased risk of advanced histology. (Source: Gut)

A Rare Case of Sinonasal Seromucinous Hamartoma Developing from the Nasal Septum
Ear Nose Throat J. 2023 Nov 22:1455613231213496. doi: 10.1177/01455613231213496. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 45-year-old man presented with a history of chronic left nasal congestion. Nasal endoscopy revealed a pedunculated polypoid mass with glandular epithelium surface on the posterior nasal septum. Computed tomography revealed a 25-mm mass-like growth in the left posterior nasal cavity attached to the nasal septum with a stalk. The patient underwent transnasal endoscopic surgery, and the tumor was removed under a block with safety margin. The final pathological diagnosis was sinonasal seromucinous hamartoma (SH). Si...

Endoscopic Extended Sinus Surgery for Patients with Severe Chronic Rhinosinusitis with Nasal Polyps, the Choice of Mucoplasty: A Systematic Review
AbstractPurpose of ReviewThe advances in the knowledge of the molecular basis of the inflammatory response in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) have led the management of these patients towards personalized and precision medicine. Surgery has been positioned as a suitable alternative in patients who do not achieve control with appropriate medical treatment, but polypoid recurrences remain a constraint. The emergence of new surgical approaches based on patient phenotyping and the poor disease control associated with type 2 inflammatory phenotype makes it necessary to review the role of personalized and preci...

Does Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) reduce colorectal adenoma (CRA) recurrence: protocol of a registry-based, cohort study and a qualitative interview
Introduction Colorectal adenoma (CRA) is a precancerous lesion for colorectal cancer. Endoscopic resection is the first-line treatment for CRA. However, CRA recurrence rate is high. This proposed study aims to determine if Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) reduces CRA recurrence. Methods and analysis This project encompasses an observational, registry-based, cohort study and a nested qualitative study. The cohort study aims to include 364 postpolypectomy CRA participants at Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine (GPHCM), China, with a follow-up phase of up to 1 year. In addition to routine care, these participants ...

Endoscopic submucosal dissection versus endoscopic full-thickness resection for challenging colorectal lesions: Must we choose?
The past decade has witnessed a multipronged effort by GI societies to promote colon cancer screening, leading to a decrease in colorectal cancer incidence and deaths. However, the wins in endoscopic colon cancer prevention have been offset by a worrisome upward trend of surgical nonmalignant polyp removals, despite a nearly 1% risk of postoperative mortality.1,2 (Source: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy)

Impact of an in-consult patient decision aid on treatment choices and outcomes of management for patients with an endoscopically resected malignant colorectal polyp: a study protocol for a non-randomised clinical phase II study
This study protocol describes our clinical multi-institutional, non-randomised, interventional phase II study at Danish surgical departments planned to commence in the second quarter of 2024. The aim of this study is to examine whether shared decision-making and using a patient decision aid in consultations affect patients’ choice of management, comparing with retrospective data. The secondary aim is to investigate patients’ experiences, perceived involvement, satisfaction, decision conflict and other outcomes using questionnaire feedback directly from the patients. Ethics and dissemination There are no confli...

Cold snare polypectomy for duodenal adenomas in familial adenomatous polyposis: a prospective international cohort study
Conclusions CSP for (multiple) superficial non-ampullary duodenal adenomas in FAP seems feasible and safe. Long-term prospective research is needed to evaluate whether protocolized duodenal polypectomies prevent cancer and surgery. Endoscopic resection of large anastomotic polyps is safe and effective
Conclusions LAAPs present unique challenges owing to their location overlying an anastomosis. Despite these challenges they can be safely and effectively managed endoscopically without recurrence at endoscopic follow-up.
