Endoscopic submucosal dissection versus endoscopic full-thickness resection for challenging colorectal lesions: Must we choose?
The past decade has witnessed a multipronged effort by GI societies to promote colon cancer screening, leading to a decrease in colorectal cancer incidence and deaths. However, the wins in endoscopic colon cancer prevention have been offset by a worrisome upward trend of surgical nonmalignant polyp removals, despite a nearly 1% risk of postoperative mortality.1,2
