Performance measures for endoscopy services: a European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) Quality Improvement Initiative
Endoscopy DOI: 10.1055/a-0755-7515The European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) and United European Gastroenterology present a list of key performance measures for endoscopy services. We recommend that these performance measures be adopted by all endoscopy services across Europe. The measures include those related to the leadership, organization, and delivery of the service, as well as those associated with the patient journey. Each measure includes a recommendation for a minimum and target standard for endoscopy services to achieve. We recommend that all stakeholders in endoscopy take note of these ESGE endosc...

Diagnostic yield of magnetically assisted capsule endoscopy versus gastroscopy in recurrent and refractory iron deficiency anemia
Endoscopy DOI: 10.1055/a-0750-5682 Background Small-bowel capsule endoscopy is advocated and repeat upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy should be considered for evaluation of recurrent or refractory iron deficiency anemia (IDA). A new device that allows magnetic steering of the capsule around the stomach (magnetically assisted capsule endoscopy [MACE]), followed by passive small-bowel examination might satisfy both requirements in a single procedure. Methods In this prospective cohort study, MACE and esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) were performed in patients with recurrent or refractory IDA. Comparisons ...

Efficacy and safety of radiofrequency ablation of Barrett ’s esophagus in the absence of reimbursement: a multicenter prospective Belgian registry
Conclusions Data from the Belgian registry confirm that RFA in combination with endoscopic resection is an efficient treatment for BE with dysplasia or early EAC. Patients treated by EMR or ESD for histologically proven superficial esophageal SCC were included consecutively. Results Resection was performed for 148 tumors (80 EMR, 68 ESD) in 132 patients.
