Geometry of cold snare polypectomy and risk of incomplete resection
Conclusion RER is more important with p-CSP than with HSP. The number of resections, n, and consequently RIR increases with increasing polyp size. Given the overwhelming safety of CSP, specific techniques to minimize the RER should be studied and developed. Polyp Segmentation Using a Hybrid Vision Transformer and a Hybrid Loss Function
AbstractAccurate and early detection of precursor adenomatous polyps and their removal at the early stage can significantly decrease the mortality rate and the occurrence of the disease since most colorectal cancer evolve from adenomatous polyps. However, accurate detection and segmentation of the polyps by doctors are difficult mainly these factors: (i) quality of the screening of the polyps with colonoscopy depends on the imaging quality and the experience of the doctors; (ii) visual inspection by doctors is time-consuming, burdensome, and tiring; (iii) prolonged visual inspections can lead to polyps being missed even wh...

Delays in definitive endoscopic resection of previously manipulated colorectal polyps as a risk factor for inferior resection outcomes
Manipulation of colorectal polyps by biopsy, incomplete resection or tattoo placement under the lesion has been shown to cause submucosal fibrosis and associated inferior outcomes. The effect of delays between index manipulation and definitive resection on the incidence of fibrosis is unknown. (Source: Gastrointestinal Endoscopy)

Extent of normal polyp resection margin: a possible quality measure for polyp resection
We examined the extent of a normal mucosal tissue margin surrounding 1–10 mm neoplastic polyps following cold snare resection as a possible surrogate marker for quality of resection. Following a standard polyp preparation protocol, we found a complete resection rate (R0) based on clear margin of the polyp specimen of 84.8%. Among all R0 polyps, a 2 mm margin was only achieved for 27.7%. The extent of a healthy margin varied by expertise of endoscopist and... (Source: Gut)

Safety and efficacy of physician-administered balanced-sedation for the endoscopic mucosal resection of large non-pedunculated colorectal polyps
Conclusions Physician-administered balanced sedation for the EMR of LNPCPs is safe. Peri-procedural AEs are infrequent, transient, rarely require admission (<1%), and are experienced in similar frequencies to those receiving anesthetist-managed sedation. Evaluation and Management of Malignant Colorectal Polyps
The detection rate of dysplastic colorectal polyps has significantly increased with improved screening programs. Treatment of dysplastic polyps attempt to limit morbidity of a procedure while also considering the risk of occult lymph node metastasis. Therefore, a variety of methods have been developed to predict the rate of lymph node metastasis to help identify the optimal treatment of patients. These include both the endoscopic and pathologic assessment of the lesion. In order to reduce the morbidity of surgery for patients with low-risk lesions, multiple endoscopic therapies have been developed, including endoscopic muc...

Efficacy of Levonorgestrel Intrauterine System in the Management of Abnormal Uterine Bleeding: A Retrospective Analysis of a 100 Women
ConclusionA levonorgestrel intrauterine system significantly reduces bleeding in menorrhagia due to benign causes and is found to be highly effective in the management of various gynaecological pathologies such as endometrial polyps, adenomyosis and endometrial hyperplasia when insertion perfomed after dilatation and curettage/polypectomy. It has proven to be superior to various surgical and other non-surgical treatment modalities. (Source: The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology of India)

Radiolucent foreign body leading to complete small bowel obstruction: a diagnostic dilemma - a case report
CONCLUSION: Foreign body ingestion leading to luminal obstruction should be considered, even in cases with previous abdominal surgery. Radiological imaging aids in identification, and timely surgical intervention, guided by on-table colonoscopy, facilitates foreign body removal. Awareness of such cases is essential for optimal care in pediatric patients with luminal obstruction caused by foreign body ingestion.PMID:38098606 | PMC:PMC10718328 | DOI:10.1097/MS9.0000000000001226 (Source: Annals of Medicine)

Improving the management and outcomes of complex non-pedunculated colorectal polyps at a regional hospital in British Columbia
ConclusionsThe introduction of a formalized protocol for complex polyp adjudication and management has led to improved documentation, multidisciplinary discussion, and optimal complex polyp management with dedicated time for EMR, particularly for polyps over 3  cm. There is room for improvement, and this can be approached in a collaborative manner. (Source: Surgical Endoscopy)
