Role of comprehensive ophthalmology
I wonder what people's thoughts are regarding the role of new young comprehensive ophthalmologists. Is it more advantageous (or less disadvantageous) in more competitive or less competitive markets? Are they primarily seen as primary care eye doctors or as referrals for cataract surgery consultation as well as lasers, chalazions, etc in markets where optometrists are not allowed to do those procedures? Is there any reason to hire a comprehensive doc for a partnership track when there... Role of comprehensive ophthalmology (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Recruiting Resources
Besides Gaswork, does anybody know of a good resource for recruiting talent? My group has been disappointed with the results we get from Gaswork. We have a stable physician only group with an exclusive contract with a mid-sized but growing hospital, we are offering a partnership without buyin, and we are in a very desirable place to live, on the coast, with the best climate in the country. And, yet, not even a signing bonus will get us good applicants. The hospital paid for a recruiter's... Recruiting Resources (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Why choose paediatric surgery?
I ask because I read this "Only 11% of operations on children are carried out by paediatric surgeons. The remainder are performed by other specialist surgeons, some of whom specialise in paediatric cases. These include general, orthopaedic, plastic, oral and ophthalmic surgery as well as ENT and urology. Specialist adult surgeons may work in partnership with paediatric surgeons to treat uncommon childhood disorders such as thyroid and certain gastrointestinal conditions." Are there any... Negotiating salary after starting
Im thinking about trying to renegotiate my salary after my first year in PP. I started at 200k without any benefits on a 5 year partnership track. I feel it is pretty low compared to others I know from training. Practice location is medium size city with slightly above average cost of living. Does anyone else think this is low? or am I just crazy? Anyone have any success with this? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Great job offer but atrocious histology...
Really like the people, great location for me, good salary/benefits, partnership track. I want to take the job, but their histology looks like thick, under-processed, overstained turd nuggets on a glass slide, and they don’t do appropriate levels (i.e. two sections on a cervical bx doesn’t cut it in my book). I could not feel comfortable interpreting this material and would be constantly having to order levels/deepers/reprocessing. I would happily go in and troubleshoot processing and... Public Service Loan Forgiveness On The Block
I don't personally benefit from this program as I work for and am paid by a small democratic group/partnership model, but I am sure many people here are counting on it. GOP bill would eliminate student loan forgiveness for public service There is no mention as to if people will be grandfathered in. BOHICA. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Anes. Surgicenter partnership illegal in TX?
Curious if any attendings could comment on this. One of my attendings told me that it is illegal in Texas for an anesthesiologist to have a partnership in a free-standing surgical center. Is this true, and can you cite where I can find more information on this law? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
