Any benefit staying in academics for a year?
Ultimately would like to be in a busy private practice (true partnership track if I can find it in the area I'm looking). Having said that, 1st year attendings have said it was a very nice transition staying on as faculty for a year because they knew everyone, who to ask for help, resources for oral boards, etc.. Wondering if others have done this and would recommend it ? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How Important Is Partnership?
Finally looking for a big person job out there. I was just wondering, given the fact that a lot of people I have talked to have said "most people don't stay at their first job," how important is it to look for a partnership track? I'm still trying to figure out if I want to go private or academic, but was wondering if I could eliminate this variable from play. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Corporate vs private specialist jobs
I’m in an OMFS partnership but always wonder why some of my friends who signed on at their respective corporate gigs stay and don’t want to seek a partnership type opportunities...they laugh at my salary, saying I’m making 1/3 of what they make. Plus, most work 3-4 days...no need to beg for patients since everything gets referred internally...this had me really thinking this week, looking at my pay stub for the first time in a while, where 1/3 of my pay is going toward partnership shares. I... Corporate vs private specialist jobs (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Job Questions
I am currently hospital employed in the midwest. I get compensated 65/wrvu. This year I will do about 7800 rvus. No equity offered. Working hard, but reasonable. There is an hour commute each way, cannot move closer for family reasons. I have been approached about a job closer to home, non-compete not an issue. It is an ortho group. Will be offered a chance to buy into the asc as an equal partner as the ortho doctors. They have a traditional partnership for the group which I don't think I... BCOM GME question :)
Hi all, I have a question regarding the GME set in place for BCOM. Are there going to be spots for these specialties for each graduating class? Or is this ONLY for the first graduating class? For example, there are 15 spots for ortho surg. Are these also going to be open for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc... graduating classes? The description can be a little misleading: "Developing strong GME partnerships in advance of BCOM’s first admitted class demonstrates BCOM commitment to its students’... Kaiser vs. USAP career advice?
I'm hoping to get some advice as I finish my residency and decide on a job. I'm deciding between Kaiser and USAP and little lost on how to make the decision. USAP hospital is pure eat what you kill model with 2 year "partnership" track and the forced buy-in of their stocks. Kaiser, as you guys probably know, is just salary (overtime paid after 40 hours), good benefits, but you're traveling to multiple hospitals and seems like just a cog in the wheel. The pay is similar (obviously you can... Kaiser vs. USAP career advice? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

USAP - Partner track worth it?
I know how everyone feels about these huge AMCs, but unfortunately they seem to have control over certain locations/markets. I've heard a few people say USAP is one of the "less evil" AMCs. Just wondering, if you were forced to take a job with an AMC such as USAP, would you even roll the dice and enter the partnership track? Or would you strictly take an employed job with them with set hours/call, with no chance of partnership. I say partnership, realizing that there is no "true... USAP - Partner track worth it? Mednax Job
Hello! Current CA3 in the northeast region looking at non-fellowship jobs. It seems like the area where I want to be is either academic or AMC jobs. I have been looking into this AMC job that was bought by Mednax about 3-4 years ago. Reading through forums, there seems to be concern for private practice jobs where new grads might be screw over if a group gets purchase by AMC while they are on the partnership track. Is there a concern after the group is already bought and appears stable... Mednax Job (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice on career
I am currently in a partnership track position with a division which is held by a management company. I become eligible for partnership this month in the company and larger company but the place i am credentialed at and half of my production minutes-- we are leaving due to poor payer mix and our division does not want to carry the hospital. The Texas market seems to be more in the production model but i am roughly looking at a 30% reduction in pay after becoming partner because of this and... Hospitalist Compensation Southern California
Hello all, First time poster here. I currently received a job opportunity in a community hospital in San Fernando Valley California which is in Los Angeles County. This is a nocturnist position. They are paying 280k base salary guarentee for 3 years and offer your standard stuff. However, there is no potential for share holding or partnership. I am just trying to get a feel whether this is the normal pay that folks are offered. I am torn by what many people have told me. Have a friend who...
