Risk/Reward Ratio with 16M in assets for Medicine?
I am a 43 year old MD/MBA physician who has obtained approximately 16M in both inherited and earned investments. I wrote a previous forum post around 2019 asking about risk of specialities etc at my previous net worth of 11M or so.

My private anesthesiology group has an opening coming up for a full time anesthesiologist in south-central Pennsylvania. Kaiser SCPMG total compensation
I'm having trouble comparing apples to apples total compensation value of a Kaiser Southern California full-time partnership track to a 1099 no-benefits job. In other words, has anyone done basic math of how much the benefits that Kaiser offers are actually worth? I'd have to take a $100k pay cut, but my gut instinct tells me the pension, job security and insurance are worth it long term. But I would like to see if they math supports it. Hello all.
I’ve seen some other posts and Im curious for people to weigh in on my situation.
I have a W2 job with a group I love. I make 400k. We’ve lost a lot of people to the allure of 1099 life, and now call is at least once a week, sometimes more. A busy OB service. CA3 considering two job options:
Stay at university hospital where I did residency
- 95% supervision of residents/anesthetists.
- no OB, peds, cardiac, regional without fellowship.
Private practice group in town
- two year partnership track, 10-12 weeks vacation once partner.
- busy OB service.
- 95% physician only cases, including blocks, healthy peds.
- no major vascular, cardiac, transplants. Mostly ASA 1-2s.
- probably more demanding call than university hospital because OB.

Is the "partnership track" dead?
I hope it isn't true but over the last few years, it seems most partnership tracks are highly flawed, unfair, and eventually lead to nowhere. The outcome is arguably as bad or worse than private equity employment with many tracks leading to that anyway with no recourse.
