Risk/Reward Ratio with 16M in assets for Medicine?
I am a 43 year old MD/MBA physician who has obtained approximately 16M in both inherited and earned investments. I wrote a previous forum post around 2019 asking about risk of specialities etc at my previous net worth of 11M or so. I have changed from a W2 to a 1099 physician after an acrimonious split from a previous partnership (two docs got jealous with fake accusations blah blah) into a seemingly nicer position in terms of work after a little drama. Assets basically include 6.5M... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ASC and young ophthalmologists
Listened to a great podcast episode on Ophthalmology off the Grid this morning regarding ASC ownership. Was wondering if any experienced ophthalmologists can shed light on contract negotiation strategies for graduating residents or fellows. If the candidate is interested in partnership, ASC, real estate, etc. is it good to communicate that upfront with the understanding it is contingent upon satisfactory performance? For those of you who are owners, how does that style of communication... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Private Practice opportunity in south-central PA
My private anesthesiology group has an opening coming up for a full time anesthesiologist in south-central Pennsylvania. Our practice consists of 5 docs and staff one community hospital and one surgery center. Cases are bread and butter. Overnight call is 1:5 from home. We primarily medically direct hospital employed CRNAs (mostly 1:2 or 1:3) but occasionally provide solo care. This is a great lifestyle position. We offer 10 weeks PTO/year and immediate financial partnership (no buy-in)... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Dermatopathology Job Market looking good !!! ($450k, with 2 years partnership track)
Current fellows in the job market are getting cool offers in this Post C-19 era. Is the experience the same across all other pathology subspecialties? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Recruiter experiences
I'm retina, set to graduate in the near future. I'm looking for a true partnership track position (aren't we all), and I'm basically willing to go anywhere for the right fit (normal partner/s, high volume but ethical). My main fear is being misled, churned/burned in some way, and wasting two years of my life. What are people's experiences with recruiters? Taking a step back, the practice is the recruiter's customer, and the job applicant is the product. There is also the perverse incentive... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Metro Anesthesia - Dallas?
Anyone have any information on this group? Stable? Fair? 3 yr partnership track in this day and age is sounding less and less appealing. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Kaiser SCPMG total compensation
I'm having trouble comparing apples to apples total compensation value of a Kaiser Southern California full-time partnership track to a 1099 no-benefits job. In other words, has anyone done basic math of how much the benefits that Kaiser offers are actually worth? I'd have to take a $100k pay cut, but my gut instinct tells me the pension, job security and insurance are worth it long term. But I would like to see if they math supports it. Help me choose between W2 and 1099
Hello all. I’ve seen some other posts and Im curious for people to weigh in on my situation. I have a W2 job with a group I love. I make 400k. We’ve lost a lot of people to the allure of 1099 life, and now call is at least once a week, sometimes more. A busy OB service. Up a good chunk of the night with epidurals and whatnot. I am not a partner, and at this stage it doesn’t appear that partnership is in the cards for me. Sometimes, the days can be long, and it starts to be a bit... Can't decide
CA3 considering two job options: Stay at university hospital where I did residency - 95% supervision of residents/anesthetists. - no OB, peds, cardiac, regional without fellowship. Private practice group in town - two year partnership track, 10-12 weeks vacation once partner. - busy OB service. - 95% physician only cases, including blocks, healthy peds. - no major vascular, cardiac, transplants. Mostly ASA 1-2s. - probably more demanding call than university hospital because OB. Overall... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Partnership Opportunity
Hi! Are you looking for a partnership opportunity? I am seeking a partnership to start a private practice with a psychiatrist. I am a physician assistant with a few years of outpatient adolescent and adult psychiatry experience and I have a Certification of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry. I enjoy psychiatry and find it to be rewarding. I have much respect for physicians and I believe in maintaining a collaborative relationship between physicians and midlevel providers. I am... Is the "partnership track" dead?
I hope it isn't true but over the last few years, it seems most partnership tracks are highly flawed, unfair, and eventually lead to nowhere. The outcome is arguably as bad or worse than private equity employment with many tracks leading to that anyway with no recourse. In ophthalmology, what makes a "fair" partnership track? Should the salary be "market rate" employment or is it justifiably lower since the associate is paying "sweat equity"? Isn't that what good will pays for? "Is it...
