The Immune Landscape of Pheochromocytoma and Paraganglioma: Current Advances and Perspectives
Endocr Rev. 2024 Feb 20:bnae005. doi: 10.1210/endrev/bnae005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPheochromocytomas and paragangliomas (PPGLs) are rare neuroendocrine tumors derived from neural crest cells from adrenal medullary chromaffin tissues or extra-adrenal paraganglia, respectively. Although the current treatment for PPGLs is surgery, optimal treatment options for advanced and metastatic cases have been limited. Hence, understanding the role of the immune system in PPGL tumorigenesis can provide essential knowledge for the development of better therapeutic and tumor management strategies, especially for those with advanc...

Genotype-phenotype correlations in paediatric and adolescent phaeochromocytoma and paraganglioma: a cross-sectional study
Conclusions PC/PGL diagnosed in children and adolescents were strongly associated with germline pathogenic variants in VHL or SDHB. These patients should be referred to specialist services for family counselling and genetic testing along followed by investigations for the detection of bilateral, multifocal or metastatic disease, and lifelong surveillance for recurrent disease. Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2 - solving the puzzle
J Family Med Prim Care. 2023 Dec;12(12):3402-3405. doi: 10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_328_23. Epub 2023 Dec 21.ABSTRACTMultiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) are tumors that involve two or more endocrine glands. It can also involve other organs and tissues as well. Out of the four types of MEN type 2 is the most common. In MEN type 2 or type 3, paraganglioma is rare, but in our case, medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), hyperparathyroidism, and pheochromocytoma were associated with the paraganglioma.PMID:38361883 | PMC:PMC10866221 | DOI:10.4103/jfmpc.jfmpc_328_23 (Source: Primary Care)

Surgery for phaeochromocytomas and paragangliomas: Current practice in the United Kingdom
CONCLUSIONS: There is significant variation in the workload and perioperative management of PPGLs in the UK. This is potentially detrimental to patient outcomes and a consensus document might be beneficial to harmonise practice across the UK.PMID:38362758 | DOI:10.1308/rcsann.2023.0054 (Source: Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England)

Updates on the genetics of multiple endocrine neoplasia
Ann Endocrinol (Paris). 2024 Feb 5:S0003-4266(24)00010-6. doi: 10.1016/j.ando.2023.11.005. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMultiple endocrine neoplasia (MEN) is a group of syndromes with a genetic predisposition to the appearance of endocrine tumors, and shows autosomal dominant transmission. The advent of molecular genetics has led to improvements in the management of MEN in terms of diagnosis, prognosis and therapy. The genetics of MEN is the subject of regular updates, which will be presented throughout this paper. MEN1, the first to be described, is associated with the MEN1 gene. MEN1 is well known in terms of the observ...
