Comparison of diagnostic efficacy between 99mTc-methylene diphosphate SPECT/CT and MRI for bone and joint infections: a multicenter retrospective analysis
ConclusionThis represents the largest global study to date evaluating osteomyelitis and bone infection diagnosis using 99mTc-MDP SPECT/CT tomographic fusion imaging. The findings indicate that 99mTc-MDP SPECT/CT fusion imaging offers superior diagnostic accuracy compared to MRI. This is particularly evident in cases involving metallic implants and chronic infections. 99mTc-MDP SPECT/CT fusion imaging emerges as a highly suitable non-invasive diagnostic modality, facilitating enhanced clinical follow-up and treatment. Oritavancin Versus Daptomycin for Osteomyelitis Treatment After Surgical Debridement
ConclusionsOritavancin demonstrated a significantly higher rate of clinical success compared to daptomycin, with lower all-cause and infection-related readmissions, reduced need for repeat surgical debridement, and fewer additional antibiotic requirements. (Source: Infectious Diseases and Therapy)

Chiral phthalimides against penicillin-binding protein 2a of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus: molecular docking and in vitro analysis
This study uses three chiral phthalimides (FIA, FIB, and FIC) to check their in silico and in vitro inhibitory effects. Molecular docking of these chiral phthalimides against PBP2a of MRSA was performed initially. After promising results, these novel compounds were screened through the agar-well diffusion method and micro-broth dilution assay to investigate their in vitro inhibitory activities with FIB being the strongest anti-staphylococcal agent yielding a 21 mm zone of inhibition and a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 0.022 ug, respectively. The zones of inhibition obtained through the in vitro activity showe...

Can Locking plate fixation and Free Vascularised Fibular Transfer with Skin Island achieve Good Functional Outcome in the Treatment of Large Bone Defects of Tibia ? A Study of 26 Cases
Bone loss in long bones can occur primarily during the initial injury or as a result of debridement when loosely attached comminuted bony fragments without soft tissue attachment are removed. Secondary bone loss arises when avascular and necrotic exposed bone segments are excised due to posttraumatic osteomyelitis [1]. Alongside bone loss, challenges are posed by soft tissue loss or scarred and contracted soft tissues [2]. Various treatment options are available in the literature [3 –6]. (Source: Injury)

Successful treatment of sino-pulmonary infection & amp; skull base osteomyelitis caused by New Delhi metallo- β-lactamase-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa in a renal transplant recipient by using an investigational antibiotic cefepime/zidebactam (WCK 5222)
AbstractA case of sino-pulmonary infection with skull base osteomyelitis due to XDR-Pseudomonas aeruginosa in renal transplant recipient was successfully treated with investigational antibiotic, cefepime/zidebactam (WCK 5222). This case highlights challenges in managing XDR-pseudomonal infection where source control was infeasible, antibiotic options were extremely limited and individualized dose adjustments were needed. Biofilm formation by < em > Staphylococcus pseudintermedius < /em > on titanium implants
This study assessed biofilm formation by Staphylococcus pseudintermedius on titanium nuts used in veterinary orthopaedic surgery. Biofilm quantification employed safranin staining and spectrophotometric measurement, while bacterial counts were determined in colony-forming units (CFU). Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) evaluated the biofilm morphology on the surface of titanium nuts. All samples had CFU counts. Absorbance values that evidence biofilm formation were observed in seven of the eight samples tested. SEM images revealed robust bacterial colonization, and significant extracellular polymeric substance production, ...
