Chance to match?
Current Status: MS4

Trends in specialty Choice at your school
My class this year at a mid ranked MD school has many people applying to specialties that were otherwise unpopular in years past. I'm thinking that maybe some people are bailing on EM and switching to other specialties. As a reference: last year my class matched 4 general surgery, this year we have 20 applying for general surgery. Last year we had 4 match anesthesia, this year 10. 6 OBGYN last year, 20 this year. Radiology 4, 12 this year. Anyone else seeing a similar pattern at their school? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How Competitive am I for OBGYN?
Would love anyone’s input on my stats going in to the match for 2022. I got my step 2 score back recently and am really deflated. All my practice scores were 246-249.
US MD at mid tier program
Step 1 234
Step 2 226
GPA 3.4
Research experience: 2 w/ two local presentations and 1 second author pub
Not expecting AOA
Got honors in surgery and high pass in OBGYN
I’m not really concerned about matching in general, I’m just wondering if I’m completely out for upper-end university programs...

3rd Year Rotations
Current 3rd year about to finish my first rotation (OBGYN). It's been decent so far but my rotation site is with a private practice group so I mainly rotate with different attendings. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a rotation like this and felt like it's glorified shadowing? The attendings do like to teach but it's almost as if they'd rather take the time to talk about conditions as a teaching method rather than have me see patients and teach that way but potentially slow down clinic...

Help! CUSM vs EVMS
Hello! I'm currently debating on whether I should attend EVMS or CUSM. I am a California native, interested in pursuing internal medicine, emergency med, or obstetrics in the future so nothing too competitive. I hope to do my residency in CA or at least the west coast so not sure if attending EVMS will hinder my chances in doing so. I have a list of pros/cons for each school and would appreciate any feedback or even speak with any current students about their experience. Thank you...

Question about dilemma
I have a question for you all about a dilemma that I am facing.
As background: I took a year off of school (2020-2021 academic year) because of a worsening of the illness which took me out of school previously when I was doing ObGyn rotation, which I had to make up. I'm now returning to the curriculum aka 4th year of medical school.
The dean wants me to take some clinical electives during the free periods I have in my schedule even though I've already completed my elective requirements. So...

Shot at general surgery?
I was planning on doing IM or FM but ended up really disliking my IM clerkship and wanting to do gen surg instead. Unfortunately my clerkship grades have been pretty terrible and I don't know what my chances of matching are.
T20 medical school
Step 1: 237
Surgery: pass
IM: pass
Neuro: pass
Psych: HP
Peds: honors
Obgyn: in process
I have one paper in the works however that was under IM not surgery. Anyone else with grades like this able to match? Maybe to a community program? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DO 3rd year need feedback
Need help. 3rd year is almost ending and I have one more rotation after this. Loved OBGYN but my Comlex1 is kinda on the low end 510-520. I'm not taking Step2 because my Step1 was very low. I will try very hard on Comlex2. I'm doing Psych next month.
What will be my chances for OBGYN?
Even though I have not done Psych rotation yet, what will be the chances for Psych?
I have passed all of my shelf exams and my gpa is >3.0 as well.
Getting good LOR from Surgery, FM and IM.
Do I need only 3...

Wayne State vs UICOM Chicago
Hi all,
I really don't know what specialty I would like to go into but I'm a current PhD student with a focus on preterm birth (perinatology/obgyn).
Here's my weak pro's and con's list.....
Wayne
Pros:
-COA over 4 years is $100,000+ cheaper than UICOM - Chicago
-The NIH Perinatology Branch is in Detroit and affiliated with Wayne and I'm in contact with one of the head faculty! But I don't even know if I want to do OB!
-Moved up in the USNEWS research rankings, from the high 70s now at 66...

Rush VS Loyola VS FIU VS University of Kentucky VS University of Alabama VS Wayne State VS Oakland
I am trying to decide between all of these medical schools and really would like your thoughts! Right now my top choice is Rush However Oakland provided me a half tuition scholarship. I am not sure what speciality I want to get into but I am interested in Neurology, Psychiatry, Oncology, OBGYN, and EM. All over the place, I know but thats what medical school is for (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What are some reasonable/ community oriented PA programs or medical schools?
I am an undergraduate student. I am looking for PA programs to look into. I want a school that is not anti-science, cares about social justice issues, is reasonable when it comes to its students. I don't want to be in a institution or program that stands for nothing. I want to either be in the pediatric or OBGYN field. It is also possible that I would enjoy Psychology or Dermatology. Schools that I am interested in looking into are University of South Florida, Morehouse School of Medicine...
