Obstetric history:
Uncomplicated 2nd pregnancy.
First delivery was an emerg section at term for foetal distress (+/- chorioamnionitis)
Seen in clinic by a colleague. They noted the following re her first cesarean:
"Spinal anaesthetic performed at [backwater hospital] without issue [dose = 11.5mg heavy bupiv +15mcg fent + 150mcg morphine = total volume ~2.9mL].

Benefits and cons of working for fqhc
Hi friends, I know at least one of the active members of our community works at an FQHC.- I think anonperson?
I saw the recent post about the malpractice insurance and had some more questions and have become interested in this population. I'm kind of getting tired of the metric for my bonuses raising higher and higher in private practice. It's getting too stressful.
For general OBGYN, is FQHC patient population worse than a tertiary care residency hospital?

OBYGN residency with low step scores
Hi, worried about my chances at matching. Go to a top 20 med school in the country but have step 1 228 and step 2 235. 2 honors (obgyn included), 2 high passes, and 3 passes during clinical year. Hoping to have 3+ published research abstracts/papers by the time I apply and have 5+ research experiences with active projects (just some that won't be submitted by the time I apply). Incredibly excited for med school and very torn about this decision. I know I can't go wrong either way. Research Year After MS2
Hi everyone! I'm interested in taking a year off after MS2 to do a research year. I'm not interested in a super competitive speciality (obgyn or IM, not interested in fellowship but would like to go to a good academic program), but am feeling really burned out mainly due to a mix of personal and family issues and think it may be the best move for personal reasons.
I took 2 gap years before med school to do teach for america for high school. I'm wondering if it will look like a "red flag"...

-No grant-based aid (probably), but IS tuition is cheapish (35K)
-The difference between the estimated COA (70k) and tuition+fees is about 30k, which is more than enough to live comfortably in Memphis

How do I get a residency in a desirable location?
Current M2 about to start clinical rotations. I'm at a campus in a rural location but my school has affiliated hospitals throughout the state.
How can I set myself up so that I can have the best chances at matching in a city (preferably east coast)? Currently interested in IM, OBGYN, EM. I don't have any connections so getting away rotations or even getting my foot in the door seems impossible.

Anyone who loved obgyn but didn't pursue it? What did you do?
I am on my very nice family med rotation, which I was hoping to love partially due to my low Step 1 but also due to the opportunity to do obgyn. I unfortunately find that I feel overwhelmed with the case load of patients in their 50/60s with comorbid conditions and the fact that the PCP is often the first to field an undifferentiated complaint like back pain or headaches.

How much do your specialist get paid for call?
I was talking to one of the Ortho guys and he states he makes 5k a night for call? I couldn't believe it does that sound right? Does the hospital get funding for this. I called one of my OBGYN friends and asked him and he states they get paid 3k for call on unassigned patients.
