Truly can ’t decide between OBGYN & FM - help
Hey guys,
I’m truly suffering between trying to pick between the two to the point that I’m afraid I won’t even get an application in on time from how much I’ve procrastinated on my decision.
OBGYN
Pros:
- I love the surgeries.
- I love that I can do surgery without being responsible for super sick patients as opposed to gen surg
- I like that clinic is *usually* quick visits with happy, healthy women
- Minimal management of chronic disease
- Bringing life into the world is pretty cool...

"Cheap" says the birdie
At 4th year rotation, one attending was ordering lunch from a particular restaurant. Invited other attendings and NPs to order also. The MSs there were not asked to join in. Happened a couple of times during the rotation. Total price of this particular order came out to (+/-) $150.00. Asked out loud how much to tip the delivery driver. Others suggested $20. The attending argued too much. They are only delivering. Gave $10 tip.
During Obgyn clerkship in 3rd year, attending gave PGY3 their CC...

Apply to Loma Linda?
I’ve been getting split opinions on this. On one hand, my sis is an OBGYN and thinks I won’t learn much about women’s health there. On the other hand, my mom went to a Catholic boarding school when growing up in India and loved the discipline the church provided. She thinks it would do me good. It’s the same reason she wants me to apply to USUHS.
To be clear, I’m not religious. My grandfather is an atheist and only sent my mom to Catholic school because it offered good quality education...
