OBGYN Chance
I know I am **** with only Comlex 1 and 2 scores. Comlex 1 passed with one try and my Comlex 2 score is only 466. No failed classes and exams. Do you guys think I should delay my graduation to take step 2 and try to apply for residency next year? If not should I just stick with FM only? I don't know being a male with help match into OBGYN. Stuck at 230
I’ve got about 2.5 weeks left until COMLEX 2 and step 2 and I just need a little better score. Here’s where I’m at UWSA 1, 60 days out - 160 NBME 9, 50 days out - 202 AMBOSS SA 30 days out - 230 NBME 10, 25 days out - 230 UWSA 2 (today), 18 days out - 230 I would love 245, but I’d be happy with 240. I had made most of my progress focusing on weaknesses but now those seem to be inconsistent. For example I got 90% on OBGYN on NBME 10 and 40% on UWSA2. What did anyone do to improve 10ish... Dual apply or commit to ophthalmology?
Hi! Long time lurker here. I'm a MD/PhD student who really discovered ophthalmology near the later part of my PhD year. I come from a T10 program and just finished my 3rd year; Grades My grades are average in the middle/lower end of the class, with 2 H, 3 HP and 2 P (e.g. IM and obgyn) so far. STEPs My STEP I is in the low 230s. My recent STEP II is in the high 260s. Research I haven't had any ophthalmology research yet and will plan to take a research year to pump out research and... Anesthesia Rec Letter Question
Hi everybody, first time poster here, so forgive me for mistakes Quick question, thinking of applying anesthesia this cycle. Advisor from school says I need to have an Surgery letter. During year 3, I did my core surgery and obgyn at hospital A. During those two rotations, I got two kick ass letters (attendings reviewed them with me) from the department of anesthesia. I also got a Surgery letter from clinical director of surgery from that surgery rotation. I have a sub I in anesthesia... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Torn between peds and obgyn
Hi all -- I went into med school thinking I would do peds, but as third year ends, I was really taken by surprise both by how much I liked my time on OBGYN and by how I felt on peds. Breaking it down by field: OBGYN Pros - I felt like I fit in best with the residents here, and really liked the culture. Residents seemed like actual friends, and the attendings were all great. I respond well to the "coach-pushing-you-to-be-better" types - OBGYNs seem like badasses -- thought... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question for Attendings and Residents: Have students become more lazy/eager to go home to study this year since the Step 1 score change?
On the vast majority of my rotations, my partners have been very quick to go home or to study even during the rotation work hours. During my OBGYN rotation, a resident asked via group chat who wants to see a c section with postpartum hysterectomy for placenta accreta and the five of us were eating lunch in the cafeteria and the other 4 were trying to avoid having to go so I decided to go. Meanwhile the rest of them were studying in the cafeteria the whole time. Has this been happening more... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Gaining 50 points from CCSE to the real deal, is it possible?
I am scheduled to take Step 2CK in about 8 weeks (currently in the middle of my OBGYN rotation, but will have 4 weeks of dedicated after it's done). I took the school-administered CCSE on 4/26 and scored quite low (205-210 with a percent equivalent in the 20s in GI). Then I took the AMBOSS self-assessment on 5/7 and got a 230 (with, remarkably, GI being one of my "higher" bars), but I felt that I had a huge amount of luck on my side as I reviewed my answers. I attribute these results to... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Matched OBGYN / AMA
Making this thread for no other reason than I never see one about OB, and this forum sometimes lack any real help about the specialty. There may be zero interest in this, and thats fine. Just wanted to provide the access if there is! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Urogynecology Fellowship advice / help
Just matched into OBGYN. I know that I should focus on being successful in that, but I’ve also heard, “if you want to fellowship, you need to prepare from day 1” So I’m just looking for any information on what makes for a competitive urogyn fellowship applicant / what a competitive profile looks like / etc. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
