Are European Med schools actually that bad for residency?
I've seen on here several times how going to med school in europe is the equivalent of going in the caribbean when it comes to practicing medicine in the U.S. I have trouble fully buying this as both my parents went to med schools in eastern europe. One did a derm residency at a US top 10 school and the other obgyn residency at a decent US school and are practicing here. They genuinely didn't have a problem doing it back then, but according to forums, it appears it's about 100 times harder... Are European Med schools actually that bad for residency? Gyn Onc?
MS3 on OBGyn and enjoying it a lot! What's the deal with gyn onc? Seems super competitive to get into, but is that the case from top residencies as well? And does it seem like gyn oncs will continue to manage chemo as well as surgery into the future? Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Audition rotations
I will be applying for OBGYN and am currently applying to audition rotations, if I want to do 3 auditions how many should I be applying to? I know they are competitive to get, so I don't want to under apply and end up with none, but I don't want to apply to too many either. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

DO student wondering about MD NSG chances?
I'm a MS3 at a DO school but want to apply MD neurosurgery. With the merger, there are only 2 formerly DO programs that have gotten MD accreditation thus far (for a total of 3 residency spots). I'm strongly considering not applying to NSG d/t the high probability (in my mind) that I will not match as a DO student. Do you guys think I can match? Jobs for pre-meds dealing with new borns or labor and delivery in general?
Hello Everyone, I'm an undergraduate student interested in medicine. Recently, I've been very interested in the field of OBGYN. I LOVE being around mothers and babies in a clinical setting - so I was trying to find a job in a NICU or related area, but haven't had too much luck as they all seem to be RN or physician postions. I was wondering if anyone knew of a job I could look for that dealt with new born babies or something along those lines? This would be so amazing! Thanks (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I passed out during a delivery
Hey all, just a little story today to vent about my experience and would like some input. So I am hopefully applying for general surgery residency with an interest to enter trauma afterwards. During my surgery rotation I loved my trauma weeks and had absolutely no problems. However, until today I observed my first vaginal delivery in obgyn and it was quite messy and I passed out halfway through delivering the placenta for the first time in my life. I never shy away from blood and guts, today... I passed out during a delivery (Source: Student Doctor Network)

ENT vs OB-GYN
I need help deciding on a specialty. Currently I am between ENT and OBGYN. I have worked very closely with the ENT department since M1 and can get great letters, scored 240 step 1, and have published 3 papers with the department (+countless conference poster presentations). But, during M3 I discovered that I really liked my OBGYN rotation. Up until M3, I hadn't considered any other field besides ENT. I was streamlined to go into this specialty, but now had a curve ball thrown my way. I... ENT vs OB-GYN (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Boston vs. CHOP
Hi guys, I'm couples matching and my partner wants to list Boston programs first. I loved my Boston interview day but am pretty nervous about q4 28h call for seemingly all of 2nd and 3rd year. The CHOP residents just seemed better supported and less burned out. I also feel like Philly is more my speed and cost of living is more manageable than in Boston. My partner is applying OBGYN and feels Penn would be a step down in quality for him. I know either residency program would be amazing... Boston vs. CHOP (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Trying for a baby at the end of intern year?
I'm a 4th year medical student applying into OBGYN getting married at the end of 4th year to a now-1st year law student. If I match in the city where he is, we'd like to have a baby at the end of my intern year (summer or start of his third year). His schedule as a third year law student will be more forgiving than his schedule the first couple years in his practice, and we have family in the area. Has anyone who's done this able to comment on the feasibility of being pregnant as an intern... Trying for a baby at the end of intern year? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

OBGYN residency from foreign medical school
So as this application season nears its end without so much as an interview on my end, it is looking more and more likely that I will be going offshore to obtain my medical degree. I was wondering if anyone knows how competitive OBGYN residencies are in the match, especially for a student at a school located in the Caribbean or Europe? Is it a field that IMGs regularly match into? If so, how important is the USMLE in determining ones competitiveness in the match? My father obtained his...
